If you have a perfectly balanced consumption and production, there shouldn't be a stockpile, effectively countering your argument that you need control over the buffer.
However, yes, it would be nice to be able to manage the buffer when you are manifolding.
In time a manifold will hit 100% efficiency, but the 1st few machines have to fill up in order for that to happen. A lower stack size would help with that.
With Manifolds you have 2 choices, let it saturate on its own or “prime” it by loading the resources manually or turning off machines until one is filled up and moving to the next machine
