As far as tips and spoilers: I recommend staying away from forums and videos until you've either completed the in game progression points (i.e., not purely self inflicted), or are genuinely completely stuck. Much of the joy in the first 'playthrough' (which is really just a big tutorial) is in learning and discovering things on your own and devising your own solutions.
1) Time.
It's going to take you a while to build up steel and finish everything in Tiers 3 and 4, so even at 2/min you should easily be able to make enough plating by the time you've finished making your factory.
2) Mass production.
If you want something, don't make a temp machine to make a couple dozen, use the resources from other production lines to automate it! 5/m is a fairly reasonable goal.
If you think that's a lot... wait until you see the Versatile framework requirements for Phase 3... not to mention all the prereq parts...
Get a basic production line running,
You will get there, just don’t rush it.
Then slowy, but steadily, boost the production a bit.
Doesn't seem so big now, does it?
Yes, very much so. Big numbers are intimidating, but as others have said, small production numbers are not. I thought I was going to take an entire real-life day to meet the modular frames goal, but by the time I finished my next project, the entire factory was backed up.
I moved my steel, concrete and encased beam factories. By the time I remembered I needed to move the manufactured products from the original location to the new one, the new one was already full and backed up, so I just dumped them into the sink instead.
my wife had to force me to come off yesterday past midnight (had work at 6, but called in sick as I want to grow my factory... I know, first sickie in years though.)
as I was trying to chain a stack of biomass generators together with a production chain of fuel. I was most satisfied when it was complete... then this morning I unlocked coal :p
Can't wait to tackle that today as I have literally no idea how it works, and can't wait to find out.
been gaming since the 80s, and not had a pull for "one more turn/constructor" for a game like this since the civ series.
