advanced options disabled achivements is dumb in my opinion
i say let people have enjoy the game however they like, its singleplayer/co-op so they dont effect anybody but the player

but some of the options make gameplay "easier" hence no achievement. Achievement (the "original" intent) was goals that you can achieve from normal play.

It doesn't affect the player and you can enjoy it however you like. An achievement is for completing a specific task without any assistance through the advanced options. Sorry but no participation trophies here.

A lot of devs are moving away from that nonsense as there's people with disabilities that game, and others who simply can't do things on a higher difficulty.

You can get a mod to force re-enable them, but mods won't work right now if you are playing 1.0 on the experimental branch

AGS is basically Creative mode, and most game disable achievements there, why should this be any different?

Wait for Mods to work in 1.0 or find cheats, that's your only options for now.

Or recognise that achievements are pointless anyway?

That can be true for you, but it depends on the player :)

some use Achievements as their "progress" in the game since THIS game there is no story/goals other than unlocking Tier but that is about it.

nonsense?
the whole purpose is to EARN the little "trophies" we call achievements....you dont have to do them, but they're there for those who like a challenge and get rewarded for it...I'm assuming you also want honor graduates in high school/college to go from 4.0GPA to 2.0GPA? because school is too hard?

or give everyone a raise for not going far and beyond?

like whats the point of achievements if it requires no effort? lol I'm seriously confused here....

Most of the actual accessibility options (arachnophobia, creature hostility, etc) are under standard gameplay options which do not affect achievements, the things in AGS are stuff like free build and flight which make the game materially easier.

You are welcome to play and enjoy it however you like, but if you actually want an achievement, you have to play the game the way the developers intended it. Achievements have no bearing on your game or game play, simply an award for accomplishing something as intended. Sorry, no trophies here just because you participated.

The point of the achievements is that they are ACHIEVEments. If you can't do things on a higher difficulty, that's OK. But you wouldn't give a gold medal to someone who came in 40th place in a competition.

yea because running a creature over is the definition of difficulty. look, the achievements are more just indicators that you have done something rather than difficult tasks and can be a nice dopamine boost if you see one pop up.

Oh, you just had to run them over, not kill them? It took me ages to kill a hog in the Explorer (just messing around here a bit!).

And yeah, you're fully on the mark. You can even get an achievement from just jumping into a deep pit; if you land you won't die but get an achievement. Oh the hard work!

I have another one: visiting 4 starter locations. I assumed it meant visiting the biomes, which I did. Then I realized that the game does not track your position like that (it doesn't track everything like, say, Minecraft does) so... starting options only.

Oh: you also get an achievement from making a manufactorer :P

Yes, that one example would make Achievement silly,

but what about?

No build cost? - there are build foundation, or building related (need to gather materials)
Build train, belts, space elevator, pipeline
no power - "blown a fuse" that need power to actually blown
unlock tier - that is a great milestone for people, so if there are no cost or get "free item" then why achievement?
unlock MAM research - Then you did not work on research on MAM normally.

The list goes on. Yes, it is YOUR game, you can play how you like, but if you want achievement, then you play how the DEVs wants it (they set the rules)

Currently, (unless you use a mod) there is no way to allow only specific achievement to achieve for specific action and not affect others (hitting a creature get achivement in "cheat mode" but do not get achievement on build mode) it is all or nothing (achievement on or off)
