But anyways -
WTH is a "Real Arachnophobia Mode"?
"I'm using this mod" - What mod?
"I think the main thing is production and resource use" - This aint your game, so this don't mean anything. Just because you misunderstood the game, doesn't mean the devs have to change it
"If I had known there were spiders before I bought the game, I wouldn't have bought it" - I just... That's a deal breaker for you? They even gave an option to work around this, and that's still not good enough?
"It might be good to have the peaceful mode or the spawn options of the creatures toggled on or off" - I thought you said you were using a mod? So what does this matter?
I have no issue with this - You found an issue, sought a solution, and were all good. The OP just screams of entitlement - Stop trying to change a game a lot of us a happy with just because you have a few issues you can fix yourself
I actually like the spiders.
"Request", "please", and "thanks" generally aren't words included by people screaming from entitlement.
A "real" arachnophobia mode is obviously anything not including "silly cat JPGs". You removed the answer to your question from their quote. 2D low res cat JPGs are an obvious mismatch to the rest of the world. A "real" arachnophobia mode would likely be a 3D model of some other creature type.
Not everybody likes mods. They simply want a fully-fleshed out option so they don't have to resort to a mod.
I know right? For me, best monster in the game
I'm building a mega fuel generator factory down in the SE section of the map, and I'm kinda loving how they hide out up in the ledges of the map, hidden in the fog
Hogs are boring and predictable - Spitters, kinda the same. Spiders are the only thing which really catch me off guard
Oh rack off
"A "real" arachnophobia mode is obviously anything not including "silly cat JPGs". "
Right, but they offered no alternative for what could be done instead. Just said "Silly cat JPGs" - So what else? That's what I asked
"A "real" arachnophobia mode would likely be a 3D model of some other creature type." - Of what though? Still nothing suggested. Replacing the Spiders with something else would just be a whole new enemy type altogether - Which really doesn't make sense for the effort required
And no - Not everyone likes mods, I just mentioned mods again because the OP said they already use mods, so nothing really extra then. I did mention how a "Creative mode" is intended for proper release
Silly White Knight
So, you can attack his point, but anybody who agrees with the point or disagrees with you just needs to "rack off"?
You don't have to know what you want to know what you don't want. Offering alternatives is good, but not offering one doesn't invalidate the point.
Nor does there need to be a suggestion. I'm certain CSS has enough creativity to come up with a suitable design based solely on the premise of "not phobia-inducing" or "not spider".
All the more reason to NOT offer a suggestion. CSS knows best how much effort it would actually take to model and flesh out a different mob type. And, they're the ones who ultimately decide how much effort is too much.
And if the current mode stays as-is, then we can assume that's all the effort they had to give.
But what is "creative mode"? AFAIK, there has been no official explanation of what creative mode is going to include. And, if they have, then maybe follow your own advice and write a dissertation on what it is or should be instead of just saying "creative mode".
Yours lovingly,
Silly White Knight
That written, would be shame to miss a full game because of this since there are various mods for it that either use something else or invoke a peaceful mode.
If all you do is complain about something without offering an alternative, all you are doing is whinging. If you have an issue with something, come up with a solution to go along with it and present your argument. Constructive criticism. Otherwise, if they come up with another situation on the same issue without such input, you very well may end up in the same situation again
"Oh no - I hate spiders" *replaces them with Ticks* "No!! I hate Ticks worse"
You accused them of "screaming of entitlement". You literally attacked the OP amidst all that.
Ironically, you're supporting the point again of why NOT to offer suggestions. It basically invites a straw man argument where we all focus on the specific implementations and lose sight of the original premise of "not phobia-inducing" or "not spiders".
I reckon let CSS be the creative ones and do their jobs the way they best know how.
If you love spiders or other creatures go hug them and why you reply this post if you love them?
I wrote "remove" but actually don't need removing spiders from game. Toggle off for me and peoples like me. It's just a small request I don't understand how you exaggerate.
I think they should add a spider or other creatures spawn on/off setting to the game so we don't need to use modding programs. It will make everyone happy but nothing can make you happy.
Basically a mods that remove spider.
"So what does this matter?"
Tell me why does Dev actually implemented Signs into the game after 2 years when there is already a mod for it? This matter cause Dev can develope their game further with more feature. Just like every games out there, all of the feature is partly thanks to the player own request. If no one request for a toggle-able Arachnophobia friendly mode, it would harder to reach more player base that have Arachnophobia.
If you don't know what is Arachnophobia, here is a description of it:
+1
Simple solution - Put a toggle in the "options" menu to 86 the critters - for those of us who prefer to build without silly distractions. It's not like anyone would send you to a planet like this without the means to exterminate any dangerous indigenous species - that would be as stupid as introducing wolves to areas with cattle or sheep ranches. Oh, wait...
