This: It's actually rare for burn in to happen and it should not.
The fact that the Cross-hairs left a burn in on your screen is pretty cray.
Many games have Cross-hairs and to be frank this sounds like a problem with the display itself.
Make sure you have plenty of ventilation honestly, check to make sure the back of your display isn't heating up.
There's many factors to look into however, this shouldn't happen.
I've left mine on for days on end and this never happened.
TL:DR? I am glad you are in warranty. Check for emitting heat.
My point pretty much.
It's not the game - its the hardware.
Burn ins only occur if you intentionally leave it on too long on a static screen or there's a defect - and that can show itself due to wear/tear/age of said product.
It's not the game is my point.
It's not rare for OLEDs at all. I've owned several now and they all eventually get burn-in. They've added features to OLEDs to prevent this such as screen dimming or shifting, but this isn't a guarantee. Anyone playing a game for prolonged periods with static images can face this. That's why many games have fading huds so this doesn't happen. White is the brightest color on the light spectrum, so this color is at higher risk of causing burn-in. It's not like Satisfactory is the only game I've ever played. While it's not completely on the Developer's shoulders for causing the burn-in, they could still offer modern features to lower this risk.
Making a PSA and blaming the game for obvious aged hardware isn't going to help anyone either.
Opinions are like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Never blamed the devs, just giving folks a heads up if they have an OLED. It's crazy to me you think 4 years is "old" for an OLED. This could happen on any OLED, even a new one. OLEDs haven't advanced to the point where they are impervious to burn-in. Keep White Knighting though Forum Champ.
A PSA is not an "Opinion"
Also please bother reading before you reply - you're making wild assumptions and presuming I'm/we are saying things that we aren't.
Grind your axe somewhere else.
Oh right, you said "aged," my bad. Mind answering me this? Do you have an OLED display?
You apparently didn't pay attention to my remark about Steam Decks - but yes I do have one.
And a few Cell Phones as well.
One of which is very old and burning in due to age.
You must have this thread confused with another. You've made no mention of Steam Decks until now. I've had my IPhone 12 for the same length, but I don't use Cell Phones as often as my main PC display. Sounds like you don't have experience with OLEDs beyond mobile devices. I don't ever remember watching/playing something on any of my mobile devices for 5+ hours. I think you're out of your depth here.
I did but I edited it out of my post in this thread so my bad.
I own a OLED LE Steam Deck - and suffered the foolishness of OLED Paranoia/Full Panic that you are spraying right now - of which they all failed horribly to have any legitimate grounds for said panic regardless.
So while you are attacking me and claiming I know nothing of what I'm talking about - I'll just let you spin your wheels in full panic and watch you blame a game for your old hardware and get on with my day.
Bother to research the tech and know your engineering or don't bother at all - stop causing panic.
I see no panic here. You have this delusion that OLEDs only get burn-in when they're defective, but it's simply not true. You're throwing out words like "engineering" under the guise that you actually understand it yourself as if you design and build them. Satisfactory is a game that takes as long as you decide the scope of your factory, which means you can spend hours in this game without stopping for several hours. Don't compare a mobile OLED that has very minor use compared to a main display. The scope between mobile and desktop is vastly different.
I do understand the tech and understand the "burn-in" prevention, as I stated previously. These are not a catch-all solution. Trust me, the anti burn-in functions are still running on my display and working. I find it comical that you believe burn-in must only be caused by faulty hardware.
I've scoped out your activity on the forum here and I deem you the Satisfactory White Knight of all time. Any minor critique to your beloved game simply puts you into defensive mode. Take a chill pill.
If I'm stating anything here, it's that the game needs better HUD options. Having the bright, white crosshair and health bar need to be a less intrusive color. I've done some digging on this OLED burn-in issue in this very forum and others have faced this very problem. This isn't just an edge case.

These are on the front page of Google. Do you claim all these users have faulty displays too?
So if you're wanting to play in short sessions, e,g, to avoid burn-in, then you get reminders.
