Large Black egg in a dark lake
Kinda looks like a shiny asparagus tree.

I read about some boss planning for release. Does it spawn here?

Are you referring to the mercer sphere in the crater lake?
Vegas Doc May 8, 2022 @ 11:29pm
Well.. if it says something like collect Mercer Sphere, then it's a...... Mercer Sphere, a work in progress (WIP) ADA has a much more pleasant voice than either of the WIPs, they can be annoying, but you don't have to listen to them, they are just trying to influence, hypnotize, intimidate you into doing their bidding, so it's your choice. Happy Pioneering!

It's a big black round tree in a lake. It's like in the center north east on higher elevations. It's the size of a lookout tower.

screenshot?

Screenshot? Would help to know what you are trying to describe.

For now it's most likely just a piece of the terrain, but it is an interesting theory of what it 'could be'.

Sometimes Mercer Spheres are hidden inside of tree trunks, sometimes you must chop down the tree with a chainsaw in order to gain access to it, but...sometimes they are in trees that cannot be chopped down, so you just move your cursor around on the trunk of the tree until you see the collection prompt and the sphere highlighted in order to collect it, I think it may happen inside of rocks too, but don't remember. Happy Pioneering!

I'll upload a screen when I have a chance.

It's like northeast of the autumn forest. I haven't bothered to setup high alt radars yet to see the map as my map still shows black on the top right half chunk.

I marked as a beacon and it's slightly north of center. On high elevation.

People keep suggesting mercer spheres when I said it was the size of a tree and noninteractable.

They're just a type of "tree" in the swamp area. I think the smaller ones used to give oil when sawed down prior to update 3 and the addition of fluid packaging

I didn't see any bosses. Just a higher level bull-pig and some gas spires around. There does appear to be a Mercer Sphere in the base of the thing but I couldn't cut the "tree" down to collect it and I didn't try to blow it up because, right now, that "tree" is more interesting than the Mercer Sphere. (We've had the spheres and sloops in the game since Day 1 and I have no clue what they'll eventually be good for.)

its just a tree

That area used to have a bunch of them until a recent biome update.

its not an egg.

You won't find any bosses in this game as there are none, at least not beyond the Alpha pigs and spitters. The crab boss is very much just a concept right now.

Looking at the thing I suspect Quanterfuntumph may be right and it was one of these "oil trees" it seems the game used to have before the oil nodes were added to the game.

Personally I choose to believe it is in fact some sort of giant egg, and this may even be related to why there is a mercer sphere in the base of it. Because that idea is way cooler (and it's hardly the craziest idea I've had, or heard from others, about the lore of this game).

Heck, it wouldn't hurt my feelings if it hatched a somewhat intelligent alien that we could interact with. Perhaps we could teach and train it to run the factory that it would inherit upon our departure and, in return, it could teach us what the spheres and sloops are all about. Heck, I'd even settle for finding out more about the SAM ore. lol

Oh, I already figured out what the SAM ore is going to be used for. See?
