are all the maps actually just one big map but with separate sections that you spawn in?

I always thought the same thing when I first started playing. Took me a while to realize it's all one large map with different starting locations until I started exploring the map a bit more.

Yep its one huge world, I have barley made a dent in exploring from start zone 1 with the oil nodes to the east as my farthest reached area.

There are dozens of potential starter locations, the devs have only chosen 4 of them to show on the new game screen. But yes, it's all just one map.

You can land in a large randomized location within any of the four starter areas, think of those zones as a giant dartboard and you are the dart, you may land dead center or wind up on the edge of the target.
