Anti-Bean measures.....
Hello,

Does anyone have a good plan to help... keep Mr. Bean boy from just up and wandering into your base? I have been using gates and they just walk through have one milling about in my storage room.

Besides creating a base in the sky does anything work to keep the dottering fools out?

Did you say, "dottering fools", oh yeah, that's us pioneers, the invaders, destroyers of the environment, desecration of beauty, and self-centered exploiters, unfamiliar with the indigenous life forms that we find in the exploration portion of our mission.

They aren't aggro, might get stuck in power line poles and/or conveyor belts, they aren't the brightest creatures that I've met on interplanetary explorations, but I suggest that you have a little more patience, be much more diplomatic, keep communication lines open, and resolve any issues that you have with Mr Bean, walking land whale giraffes, because they might have some alien technology, or lore that FICSIT might need to use someday, like the bounce characteristics that they possess or something like that! Booooooong, booong, ride 'em cowboy!

Some people have stated that they are fun to watch fly up into the air, with a jump-pad trap, several pads strategically placed around the perimeter. But.... is that cruelty? I know I wouldn't like alien invaders to my planet, launching me into the sky for entertainment.

Or... you could just blow them up with some Nobelisk, about 4 charges, blow their guts sky high! only to receive one alien innards, according to reports that I've heard on other topics on the DB. Happy Pioneering!

Ah, you must mean the Space Giraffe-Tick-Penguin-Whale Things. They can't walk through walls. Just build up a main wall to your base that's 3 blocks high.

They can walk through the gates though and I set that up so I can have a transport hub info the storage room and get tractors to run... since with Update 5 I am challenging myself to actually use those more.

Hit one to try to shoo them out and they went upstairs rather then out! The buggers...

(Seriously not that worried or upset just would like to keep them out but seems no one has a non -platform out of reach just getting up by ladder/hypertube way.)

This is a really old bug that is already known. They can 'ghost' through pretty much everything. If walls can stop them, that is new to me. Haven't played for a few weeks.

And I have never heard them called 'Bean' things. I always called them Land Whales.

I use a mod to get rid of them. No longer an issue for me. Would be nice if the Developers fixed it though.

they get trapped on random things but ghost through others i think they might just have a weird hitbox. just spam the xeno-basher when they do get stuck

If you're just worried about one of them you should chase it down and hack it up with your xeno basher. It takes a good number of hits but you can kill them. They run away after you hit them but they generally seem to get stuck on something when they are running away from you and they reach a cliff or something then you just keep whacking them until they die. Once they are dead I don't think they will respawn if they are within 300m of your structures, so build a power pole nearby and they shouldn't come back.
