What's this water effect?
What is this water effect that happens at the edge of the platform and the edges of my weapon? It's an effect that should happen to things IN the water, but why is it happening to stuff that's above water?

I've also seen it in xenoblade chronicles 2.

It happens in very nearly every game that has water, been happening for years. It is just how game engines render water effects, it is more like a graphical overlay rather than an effect caused by water.

Yea, but what's the name of the graphical effect though?

Refraction.

It's probably called the "Modern Technology isn't good enough yet, algorithm bug for water effect rendering phenomena" or something like that.... after you spend $1,500 on the latest greatest graphics card, which still doesn't fix it bug. Most likely it's something in the Unreal Engine that they use, beautiful...but not perfect, right?

That kind of stuff doesn't bother me, I'm just playing the game, not looking for detailed errors, trying to help out the developers or anything, it's not my idea of having fun. Instead I'm zoning out oblivious to all of that so, I don't have to "dis" a game, don't need credit for finding a bug, and especially don't let it interfere with the fun that I'm having playing the game by making a post on the discussion board, stirring up the "Mister know it all" types we have here, but that's just me enjoying life and cruising around the world without a care in the world.

But......
They always seem to blame your video card for stuff like this, does it have the latest driver, or have you adjusted the shader, v-sync, water refraction quality (medium or high), graphics quality as high as your card can handle without lagging etc. That kind of stuff that I'm sure someone on a break scanning the board for stuff to jump on.

So...
I'd mess around with that stuff if it really bothers you, or.... just "keep on keeping on!" ignore it so that it doesn't bother you, put it on the "back burner", and accomplish great deeds Pioneer, "life is like a box of chocolates.....nah that's going too far! Ha!

It has nothing to do with dissing the game, or it being an issue lol, it's a graphical artefact that I've seen in other games, and was wondering what it actually is, that's all
