Question about the Biomass Burner
I have had this game for awhile but haven't played it much. I am enjoying the game a lot.

Ok, so when we've upgraded our Hub and have access to the Biomass Burner, is it possible to build some farm extractor that will pull or harvest nearby biomass? I know there's convey belts that can move stuff along but wasn't sure if there was a way to automatically pull biomass out of an area, or some constructed farm, rather than having to go pluck it by hand from the nearby landscape and then toss it into the burner.

This rookie thanks for the reply in advance.

No, biomass burners can not be automated.
You will have to unlock the next power source to get automated power.

untill then you just need to build more bio fuel burners.
They only burn as much fuel as needed.
so if you build more than needed they only run at lower percentage and a full tank lasts longer.

There is a discussion topic titled Bio Mass Generators, with a whole lot of information, but...

No, you have to walk around and grab shrubs (leaves and wood), put just leaves, wood, or flowers into the biomass burners and hook it up to your power grid with power poles and cable. Some people have stated that flowers are the most efficient of the three. However, it's better to make Biomass, you can handcraft it from wood, or leaves,, a more efficient fuel which burns longer. Later on, Tier 3/4, you'll have an option to choose the Obstacle Clearance milestone at the computer monitor which controls the shuttle, and will be given the blueprint to make a chainsaw which can cut down trees, and if any rocks are around it has an area effect which will chop them up to into limestone, I like to use it to clear boulders, before you get explosives. You'll also receive the recipe for a even more efficient fuel called solid fuel biomass, which also is the fuel you need to run the chainsaw. Not only is it more efficient than biomass, you can stack 200 of them in one inventory slot or fuel a biomass burner, makes more room in your limited inventory slots, and powers biomass burners longer.

You only can produce 40 MW (20 MW each) of power with the two biomass burners included in the HUB, so you'll probably want to make more Biomass burners as your factory grows, the ones that you make have 30 MW each instead of 20 MW.

If you would like to Mod your game with the Satisfactory Mod Manager (SMM). There you can find several mods, some of them have farming, belted biomass burners, different power sources, flying, you name it they have it. However, some of them will have to be updated soon when they release the new update 5, coming pretty soon. So, beware of that problem. Happy Pioneering.

Obstacle clearing is Tier 2, meaning it is available for completion from the start of the game, assuming the tutorial tier 0 milestones have been completed.

For as long as you use Biomass, don't "pluck it by hand". In fact, don't even use the chainsaw.

Use the xeno-basher. To kill aliens.

One stack of Alien Organs (or 2 of Carapaces) makes an entire container full of solid biofuel.

Find a good cave nearby and just run through it killing the little spiders.

It's way easier and doesn't destroy the countryside in the process.

No, Obstacle clearing is actually Tier 4 (the second tab at the top of the milestone selections), the first two tiers are from the tutorial, but if you use the option to skip it when you create your game, name it, decide upon the starting zone (Grassland, Northern Forest, Dunes, etc.) you will skip the landing, and just start out with stuff in your inventory that you would have made yourself, if you went through the tutorial

The tutorial is Tier 0. The first two tiers are unlocked upon completing it, or by skipping the onboarding.

Some might say that the fauna (animal) based biomass fuel is better, only one stack or 50 innards will fill a whole container (24 inventory slots with stacks of 50 biomass). Well if you want to hunt down 50 or 100 beasts, go for it, but it's a lot faster to go gather 5K leaves or wood, and they stay still, are everywhere, and a lot less dangerous.

Sure, later on when you have a little experience, have a better weapon, it might be faster, even more enjoyable for "tree huggers" to do, just be a Bambi killer instead! If you don't use the chainsaw the shrubs grow back in a few game days, so does the food/heals. So, a tree hugger could thin the forest without changing anything. If you don't build anything, not even a power pole or foundation, the animals will return too, make a hunting ground, go back every now and then and gather some carapaces and innards, it just depends on who brain washed you, what you think is important. The milestone for Coal Generators doesn't take that long to reach, and then you won't have to kill anything at all, or stuff the biomass burners.

@Aven Oh, yeah you're right, well we should always pay attention to the details, at least I got the Title correct, the Tier number is actually Tier 2, my bad. I don't do the landing anymore, I have 2100 hours of game play now, really got my $30 worth out of this game, almost as much as Skyrim LE and SE, oh wait that's over 15K hours, but it's been out for a lot longer, and has a lot more bugs. But usually after an update, I'll run through it to see if they changed anything on that portion of the game as well. I usually start out with Base building, then obstacle clearing, and then go back to tier one, for the splitters, logistics, the research for portable containers to put all of my junk into. Happy Pioneering!
