Where is water
I was cruising through the game and really enjoying it. I was so pumped to finally unlock coal power, but I keep reading I need to setup coal power somewhat near water, and I can't find a drop on the whole map. Where the heck is water in this game? I'm on the default grassland map I think

there are lots of small ponds scattered about that you can use water extractors in to generate water, there are also the coastlines. Water doesn't show up on the resource scanner because it's pretty much everywhere.

worst case scenario use the interactive map below, the default grasslands area in in the south, though all of the "maps" are actually connected so you could walk to any of the other starting areas.

Uh just walk north and you will eventually find the sea? But like seriously you havnt found a single body of water? Perhaps you dont want to spoil the joy of exploring the map, but try just googling "Satisfactory map" and take a glance at it. There are quite a lot of places with water (besides the ocean surrounding the map).

So I finally found some water about 4000 meters away from base. So am I correct in assuming I'm gonna have to build a new base closer to water?

Wow, I'm just not seeing how you haven't found *any* water in Grass Fields. The land mass is surrounded by it, and there are hundreds of lakes in it.

Most people do. Find the nearest coal deposit, find the nearest water to that, and build a small self-contained base where the coal feeds the generators. Stretch a power line back to your main base, and ignore this power base (assuming you set it up correctly).

There is a very nice crater due north of the big flat part of the grasslands. It has a small lake big enough for a few water extractors, and a bunch of coal spots next to it. A very nice spot to build a power plant.

Then you're not in grass fields. You're in the desert, or the northern forest. Either way, there's lots of water. Either that or you have unreasonable expectations of the size of the water you'll need.

Thanks antisocial guy. You've really impressed us all with your harsh sarcasm. We're all thoroughly amazed by you. How about just stay out if you wanna talk like a tough guy, don't reply

There are resource nodes of water (cold), they look like geysers, rocky outcroppings similar to the iron, copper, and limestone etc., don't use those. Find a lake, river, pond, sea, ocean, near the coal deposits and, put a water extractor (production section) floating in the water source, coal by building a miner on top of the resource node, and then either move it with a conveyor belt or a vehicle to a storage container hooked up to your coal generators, build your coal generators there, try to stay level with the water, less than 10M height difference or you're going to have to use inline pumps to raise it up. You'll have to use pipes (logistics section) and probably some connectors, those pipes go in the round holes on the back of the generator, and the coal goes into the square holes (inputs), the third connection for coal generators is to the power grid. It takes about 30 seconds for the power grid to react to the new generators, just click on them to see how much power you're using, and how much you are making.

I usually use one water extractor for two generators, and a normal purity coal node can feed about eight generators, if you use at least a Mk 2 conveyor belt and splitters to feed them, if your belts aren't fast enough, they won't feed the generator enough coal and it will stop running, surges indicate that you might want to use faster belts or feed fewer generators until you can, i.e. only feed four generators with Mk 1 belts for each normal purity node of coal.

Check your generators, make sure it's full of coal, and water before hooking it up to power, it needs to be jump started with your biomass burners to get going. Happy Pioneering!

Well... eventually you will haveto decide if you either want to have one huge base and transport all resources to one point on the map, or you can build satelite bases.
I would suggest you just follow that other guys advice and build a satelite base and drag a powerline back.

Out of curiosity, I checked the map, and all but 2-4 (depends on how picky you are) coal nodes are close to water. So if you still have trouble, check out the interactiv map. But as allready mentioned, it's some sort of Spoiler.

When they added golf mode yesterday it removed much of the water on the map.

Nobody found your "propaganda" post interesting then, they won't now.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I'm finding the jump to coal the biggest sticking point I've hit so far. I'm struggling with it
