Take about 100 of said item and litter the entire base of the container with said item ... or color code it to the 100+ items.

How neat and tidy? Let's see some screens. I consider myself somewhat ocd with organization so, I like seeing what others create.

Signs are one of the most requested suggestions.

I don't use labels. I just put a short conveyor belt on the output end of the container, so that a few of the items inside the container roll out on it, then you can actually see what is inside of that container, especially if you have a whole row of containers with different items inside of them. So, it's sort of a visual label. If I'm going to transport those items to a different factory, i.e. iron plates, iron rods, screws, concrete to another factory or assembly line, I put another container beyond the container with a belt in between and I can see the products on that belt, and it acts as a buffer for the truck stop or rail station, sometimes I even have a row of three containers depending on how large of a buffer I need, sometimes you need that for an assembler, or manufacturer i.e 25 screws, and you can burn up a whole container only making a few of the more complex products.

^^thats the only way to go :D ... i've come up with a few variations of "production displays" using pass through created with conveyor walls, lifts and a belt. gives visual reference to item ID and production rate, in an "at a glance" manner. helps a ton and i don't rifle through 10 containers before i find what i want anymore.

Sad the developers did not make the labels. I am getting tired of having to manially check containers

I'd like to also see labels on building so you know what is going where; i.e. Smelter 1A to X. Maybe even just a "Note" area when you click on building so you can put some information. I am finding myself having to trace down some of the original buildings to find out where they are going and why I have altered them.

I have been using beacons as labels. You can add text and adjust the color. Come in pretty handy. I can mark hdd's locations and a descriptor as to what I need. Label ore and its purity. label my buildings with what they produce. The list goes on.

Thanks RawDawg. I'll try this.

Any time. ;-)

The simplest solution is to have a little belt stick out of the container. The item will flow out to the belt, revealing what's inside. It's kind of like a tongue.

If the container output is used further down the factory, use a splitter and place a tongue on the side.

The "tongue" is a pretty good idea. Thanks guys.

Any thoughts on how I can remember where I've installed my power shards? This is why I want labels. Beacons are okay, but they're kind of hard to spot, sometimes and their text only shows in the binnacle (or if you probe them, obviously, which defeats the purpose).
