Rocket Concept
I was playing with some friends and began discussing concepts for after nuclear power. My best idea was a rocket. So basically you would gather materials build a rocket. If the rocket has enough fuel it will blast off to the moon (with an animation of equal importance to the space elevator) and autonomously mine and bring new material back to the planet, then repeat the process if there is enough fuel. I thought this was a really cool idea and wanted to see what other people thought of it and more on specifics of how it would work.

The "moon" as in moon of Earth, might be pretty far away...but the moons on each planet are really radiant, especially at night. Moons of planets are usually comprised of identical raw resources as the "mother" planet though, probably not much new there.

I would think that the next "logical" progression would be something like cold fusion myself, clean, efficient, but so far "impossible" in our time, on our planet.

I guess getting into a "rocket" would depend upon the pioneer's contract, perhaps it's a life-long contract type of deal, and perhaps they are really androids or drones of some type too, not really sentient humans, controlled by players through their "connection" via PC or something, avatars.

Well, we currently have no idea what they have planned for the 'end game'.

But resources never run out. There are a ton of resource nodes on the map. Scouring the map and tapping every single resource out there is a monumental task (and at that point you can probably say you 'beat' Satisfactory).
Using it as an arbitrary miner/transport vehicle doesn't seem to hold much value. If the resources it brings in are variable, it holds no value because you can't plan for it and optimise, if they are static, you're creating a loop that at some point will surely trend to zero. The cost of resources to send the rocket out will break even with the benefit of resources gained.

I believe the devs have said interplanetary travel is way beyond the scope of this game. It's only real purpose that I can think of would be to send things off-world, which is what the Space Elevator does.

As cool as a rocket animation akin to the Space Elevator would be.

One thing that might be cool would be using it as a long distance transport. For a true end-game travel option with a minimum distance, to allow you to move around large scale factories a lot faster (ie. Grass Fields to Dune Desert). Unless we eventually unlock a Teleporter with the alien tech ^^

Nope. The developers have already told us multiple times that they will never add anything to the game to do with space, outer space, distant planets, or space ships of any kind to the game.

I love mod that allows trading via space elevator, it's better than awesome sink which is usefull for trashing excesses, but trading with mother base in space *is* *awesome* and getting cash in return. I feel like I'm self employed farmer rather than fiscit *property*.

Post reminds me of Automation Empire, it has rockets that launch resources.
