Black Screen

When i start the game it turns to black screen sound is there and i can hear the menus controlls scrolling, but wont load the screen. any suggestions ?

You guys can try to launch the game in windowed mode. To do that you have to:

-Open steam
-Right click on the game from your library
-Properties > General > Set Launch Options
-In the box add: -windowed
-Launch the game

That might solve the issue.

Thank you for the help unfortunetly that did not work. still boots up in a smaller window then shifts to full screen where it then turns black. very dissapointed was sooooo looking forward to this game. went out and bought it again for ps4. but still very much wanting to play it on my computer. if you know of anything else please feel free to share.

Extract that to your game's install directory, and then to solve your particular problem, make the following edits to dinput8.ini

Thank you this mod worked for me to get into the game however, with this code I did not have the right resolution but I changed the settings in game to be Window Border less and deleted the SpecialK files and the game now works fine.

Download the file that Kaldaien has lined, extract the files (you will need an a program like 7zip to do this just google it if you dont have it) to your .hack//GU folder (C:\Programfiles (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\hackGU). Then open the file dinput8.ini with a text app like notepad. Then scroll down tell u see a section that says Display.Outlet and change these the two that you see in the code box.

Change Display.Output
[Display.Output]
ForceFullscreen=false
ForceWindowed=true

Then scroll down tell you see Window.System and change these these the two that you see in the code box.

Change Window.System
[Window.System]
Borderless=true
Fullscreen=true

Then save it. Then open the game it may take a little longer to open than normal due to the code the mod is doing. After the game loads hit the "Q" key then go to the section that says "Steam" there you'll see "Video" once open you can change the fullscreen to windowborderless. and hit enter to apply. Then close the game and go to your .hack//GU folder and delete the files that came from the 7z file. Then open the game and you should be good to go.

I only did it cuz it gave me low resolution but it got me into the game to set it to borderless and once removed it gave me the right resolution, if ur file resolution was right I'd have no problem keeping it.

But I really do appreciate the work, cuz of you I am able to play the game, and I thank you for that. I guess I should have told Jacob if his resolution wasn't right then delete the files then.

i was able to fix the resolotion. however during game play it says .hack,exe has stopped working at randsom times. so its almost more frustrating. : (

Hello! i dont know if after all this time this post still works... i put the mod cause i had only black screen when i try to start the game and the mod works....but i dont have sound at all..is there a way to make it work?
