Ya, same goes with Tomb Raider. Some people may say they bought Tomb Raider because of Lara Croft's butt cheek and breast which was absolutely invalid premise whatsoever. They buy Tomb Raider because they love the story line, character development, gameplay mechanics, puzzles, etc. Yes, the game does contain sex appeal, but nevertheless, it was intended to be made for 'actual' mature audience! I can't fathom what's up with these generations nowadays!🤦‍♀️

not entirely, I hate the puzzles, only the challenge tombs are fun, the rock climbing is way too repetitive.

Well, I bought the game when it came out, and as a heterosexual woman, I don't really find 2B's butt a reason to play (although, damn, what an ass); I also don't go around showing mine, so, well... your opinion it's not very accurate.

This game deals with themes of existentialism, the meaning of life and how you define it, the meaning of humanity and how you define it, even Cosmicism to a certain extent. If all you see is a butt then that's on you.

So why cheapen those themes with stupid fan service? Game of Thrones had a lot of sex and sexy characters too, but daenerys didn't walk around with her tits out the whole time because it undercuts serious themes.

I have a feeling it definitely helped sales. Unfortunately fan service is rampant in anime (to the detriment of the medium in my opinion) and there's clearly overlap between anime fans and nier fans.

FMA Brotherhood and Hunter x Hunter didn't need ridiculous fan service to be some of the greatest of all time.

Given I haven't stared at any of the girls, or guys in this game, I'd have to say your premise is fairly invalid. I've probably spent more time looking at the weapons, that and trying to work out the combos because I find the controls fairly unresponsive.

But 2B doesn't walk around with her tits out, there's no nudity or sexual references in Nier, and the game doesn't even let you angle the camera to look at 2B's butt unless you're standing in a fairly specific place. It kind of seems like you're blowing this way out of proportion. There's really not as much fan service as you're implying.

I don’t agree that it makes the game terrible like op said but let’s be real. Every time you sprint with her you get a full helping of ass. Half her skirt is oddly missing, and you can literally “self destruct” to play with her in a thong lol

Plus the dlc custume. I do love that Taro really makes the otakus work for it though, that’s like Hideaki Anno levels of trolling lol
