Is it worth playing more than once?
I finished the 2B playthrough a while back then decided to have a break as the 9S one was looking to be the same after the intro, I thought maybe it'd be the same for a bit then change but it's starting to look like as you didn't split up from 9S at this point that its going to be the exact same game with a hacking system for combat (which I hate) and some inner thoughts from 9S.

Does anything change enough for it to be worth playing again? and do you ever get to play normally with 9S or is it always that annoying hacking thing?

Well, you can avoid hacking. Though that leaves you with one attack instead of two... sigh.

Half of the 9S playthrough is the same, then it changes, and after you finish the 9S route there's route C, which is the best part of the whole game

Playthrough A and B are mostly the same, you just get to see a few different things when playing as 9S. Playthrough C is... different.

Gah so I have to put up with the 9S playthrough... or just watch it online I guess

I highly recommend that you go through 9S's playthrough and keep pushing. Things really get crazy in the third playthrough. Here are a few tips for hacking :
- you can use the autolock to target nearby objects, makes all the hacking minigames much easier since yo just have to manage your movement then.
- if you really don't like hacking, just use spears, 9S can throw them, so you can just play him as a mid-range character.

Hacking the bosses in route B as 9S is half the fun. The additional lore you get is awesome.

Yes, you have to play through the first half of the game twice in order to unlock the second half of the game.

Route B with 9S is mostly the same, but there are some differences:

1.) The beginning and the end are completely different.
2.) New cutscenes are added in during the middle portion.
3.) Obviously, a new character = new playstyle
4.) New sidequests, plus old side quests do not have to be completed again.

Route C is worth going through Route B, for sure, as it's literally the entire second half of the game, which picks up directly after the endings A and B.

Also, you don't have to hack as 9S, unless it's a story-specific segment that requires it. On my second full playthrough of all the routes, I almost never hacked as him and made it through just fine. He's fine in combat, just swings a bit slower than 2B and cannot duel-wield. But he has far more range than she does, which definitely gives him an advantage on that front.

Ooh, that's a nice one. I don't think I ever used spears on route A. Waaaaaait... so I could just spear that circular boss near Resistance camp with spears (when it curls into a ball and I can't damage him with my Pod) instead of relying on Shock Wave...:steamfacepalm:

You didn't even hack Beauvoir (aka Simone) ?! Her backstory was depressing as hell but well worth the hack.

Oh, no I definitely hacked Simone. I just didn't use hacking during regular combat encounters, only when it was story specific, or required by the game.

9S is a good character, all that hate is really anoying.

With the right chips he is as good as A2 in the colosseum.

9S is needed for some side quests as well, and side quests is half of this game. Not to mention special item and archive locks/doors/chests that are binded to hacking.

I know it sucks replaying half of route A, but use the opportunity to re-explore. Theres a lot of content in this game.

Just be sure to buy the Item Scan chip. Makes searching for those hackable (and non-hackable that you missed on your first playthrough) chests much easier.
