You're in luck. He dies many times--more times than we even see, apparently.

However, when it comes to staying dead?... You're going to be disappointed. Like it or not, you're stuck with him. :steammocking:

Everybody dies

During the A2 play-through 9s said he will revenge 2b by killing A2. But can he do it or I can murder that kid with 2b sword

Do you really want people to spoil everything for you? :steambored:

No, in the canon ending, ending E, he's alive. He's even alive in the canon concert script. Too bad...for you.

I don´t get the hate. Just because he is the only one who can grab 2B´s ass? :steammocking:

I liked playing with him and hacking is surprisingly effective with good chips. He is as good as A2 for the colosseum

There are two ending in the concert series, good and bad. The bad ending states he is dead and his memories are lost forever and 2B is alone. Each ending is cannon in some degree or at least the five main endings. Drakengard 2 follow the events of Drakengard 1 ending A, while Nier follows the events of ending E. They are both cannon for example. Drakengard 3 " cannon " ending is one bothers being alive, but ending D also is true as Accord is in Nier Automata.
We as players determine the ending, that's why Taro has branched endings. This is my take on it.
I don't take the "bad" concert ending too seriously. I know it's Taro, and with him everything might be canon to some extent, but he admitted himself in the Famitsu interview that he did the bad ending to mess with people expectations during the actual concert, since he knew the concert script book will be released before the concert.

Exactly, the concert script was more of a troll script to better manage the delivery of the "true" ending during the Concert, so yeah, it is "canon" that 9S is alive... but I wholy agree that the concept of "canon" doesn't seem like Yoko Taro's main focus, in fact, he stated numerous times that he prefers to let the players decide and fill in the gap in his stories, so yeah, in a sense, it's a bit futile to talk about a "canon" ending, after all.

no. anything that taro doesnt explain is left to interpretation (like 2B and 9S's relationship, how much they love each other) but the endings are very much set it stone. Don't confuse "canon" with "left to interpretation" the fact that taro made the concert scripts that take place after ending E, shows that ending E is the canon ending and the fact that taro said the "good" end for the concert script was canon, makes it so. Its useless to argue with the man that makes the series.

Nah I don't like him because of the ♥♥♥♥-talking and all that stuff

Keep in mind that from Drakengard 3 we know there are many different branching timelines and that all of the events that happened did actually happen within their own timeline, so really, every different possibility is canon.

Not when the creator himself says which ending is the canon one. Unless Taro retcon's the ending, ending E and the "good" concert script ending is the final and true ending to nier automata. You are free to think other endings are "canon" but it doesnt change the fact that the story's conclusive ending is the "good" concert script ending.

Yet Yoko Taro himself isn't too found of the concept of "canon", I suspect he doesn't like people setting things in stone, himself included, and rather have them come with their own interpretation. So yeah, it's the canon ending...and yet, should we really limit ourselves to that?

@ Satanael : it's worth what it's worth, but I got it on the reddit thread that gave the link to the concert scripts before the concert happened : https://www.reddit.com/r/nier/comments/6846ba/spoilers_spoilers_from_nier_concert_recital_drama/

Should we limit ourselves to that? If the story continues from a certain ending, then yes. Yes we should. To do otherwise, is to not tell a good story and retcon everything.
