Amazing game but...

So I dedicated all my free time outside of work over the past week to beat this game. I love it. It sent chills up my back and made me feel nostalgic as hell for all the great story games I played over the years (Persona series mainly). I was even more excited to fire up another play through with all my sick gear and a higher difficulty for added combat quality when I discover... enemies are lvl 1? I'll be honest, my heart sank like a rock. Debug mode doesn't satisfy either. I suppose I'll wait for this sunken feeling to fade in a month or two and try a another playthrough from scratch.

The lack of level scaling and progression reset for quests are killing me :(

What you can do is use a save game editor to set your EXP to 0, as that will bring you down to lvl 1 as well.

Have you completed the game through to Ending E or are you just starting Playthrough B?

If you've only got Ending A, The enemies (except certain boss fights) do get a bump in levels from Playthrough B onwards but are only scaled to your level during flight sections sadly.

If you've completed Ending E and have the DLC then you can complete the Flooded City Special Rank to receive Forbidden Fruits which lower your level by 10 levels each so you can essentially start a proper New Game+ with all your gear. The Proof of Oath mask from the Desert Special Rank can also be equipped to prevent you gaining EXP once you've lowered your level.

The Flooded City special rank can be pretty challenging (definitely the most manageable as Beserk A2) but it's an awesome fight and contains some great throwbacks to the original Nier. I loved it so much I bought the DLC for the PC version as well as the PS4 Pro version so I can do it all again on PC. XD

He actually finished ending C only, according to his achievements. OP, reload the final fight through chapter select and choose 9S this time. Then enjoy endings D and E.
