is self destruction harmless?

do i lose chips when i self destruct? my guess is no, since i dont actually 'die'. but my clothes get destroyed.

are these clothes destroyed for the rest of the game? or is it safe to use self destruct since they get back to normal somehow?

No, no, yes.

You can reset your clothing using an items sold by Emil, or you can use the teleport function of the teleporter.

the self destruct (if u can pull it off without getting killed that is) does massive damage to enemies around you and if you want your clothes back, then you can either use an item you get from emil's shop, reload your save, fast travel, or die. The self destruct (given its actual practicality of using in combat. ie: have to stand still for 3 seconds and take damage from enemies the whole time) is mostly used tbh if you just want to look at an extremely detailed and fine booty

Just teleport to get the dress back. Or just don't self destruct unless you want the 2Booty

Unless you're wearing Kaine's outfit, in which case it just destroys the fine details in it so it looks weird and low-poly.

There's also an achievement for playing for a certain amount of time without pants as 9S.
