Second DLC?
Any word on the second DLC? I know there was supposed to be two and I don't know if I should wait for it to replay the game again.

They never announced their plans, only information about other DLCs comes from steamdb and datamining.

Plans may have changed and since nothing besides 3C was officially announced they aren't obliged to even explain why other DLCs have been cancelled.

Development have halted on all platforms after the DLC was released back in early May. I seriously doubt we'll ever see another DLC released.

I think they were alluding to other content, not DLC (things like the concert video and the dolls).

There isn't even anybody around who could make additional DLC.

yoko taro is supposedly working on a "nier related project" that he was hiring for people to write side quests and item descriptions which to me sounds like dlc because it feels way too early for a new game in the series and side quests/item details are usually done pretty late in a game's development cycle.

It's also way too late for DLCs, especially since they didn't even bother to patch the game a single time on PC.

Also there were pre-made DLCs with Pod skins which were never released so i assume the business decision was to shelf the product and move to next ones.

It's never too late for dlc's for a game. Developers and publishers are free to make changes to a game many many years after a game comes out. If u think it's too late for dlc, try telling that to xcom 2 for example. That game came out 3 years ago and stopped being supported after the 1st year and yet they came out with the "war of the chosen" dlc just a month or 2 ago

Square plans on making NieR a pillar franchise now that Automata performed so well.

They're hiring for future productions, not for this game. As far as I know, the team at Platinum who made the game and the DLC are all on other projects now.

You do realize this falls down to publisher, whether it'll greenlight another DLC, no developer would make additional content for their game if it wasn't profitable for them, development takes time so there has to be someone who will sustain devs before DLC is finished and can be sold - if Square didn't agree to pay for any further development regarding Automata (which is more than likely) i doubt we'll be seeing any new content for it, ever.

Firstly, Platinum was on verge of being closed due to financial issues prior to Automata, secondly i assume they moved on to other projects as soon as they regained financial fluidity.

Square seems to be happier with monetizing on Automata via merchandise and such rather than paying Platinum to patch the game and develop further content.
