How is the PC port?

I've been meaning to get this game for a while now. Still a bit split if I should get it for Console or PC.
I got a pretty ok rig myself, but heard some things about the optimization of the game. What should I know before buying the game?

broken out of the box. game does not run at correct resolution in fullscreen, crashes the display driver on certain gpus which causes a white screen until you force it to close and overall runs poorly.

a mod by kaldaien titled "FAR" fixes the resolution bug, but the other issues remain a problem to this day. square never acknowledged or fixed anything.

What's your definition of an "ok" rig. automata's tech wasn't great to begin with (plenty of stuttering, even on console and even with an SSD) but the port sorely lacks a lot of settings to tune performance, even with FAR installed. But if you have a similar GPU to what's recommended (gtx 980) you'll be able to play the game just fine. If you have something a little weaker than what's listed, FAR's global illumination setting will be your best friend.

If you are going to get it, I'd STRONGLY recommend waiting for the game of the yorha version that's coming on the 26th. It'll be available on both PC and PS4. It'll come with the dlc and some extra goodies at a discounted price. So unless you have an xbox (basically already has this version) or you can find a really cheap price on greymarket key sites it's a better idea to just wait a bit.

Nier was abandoned the moment it was released, and never got even a single bug fixed post launch (though the FAR fan patch does help). In 2 days Square will finally be releasing some sort of updated version (nearly 2 years after the PC launch), but no one knows if it'll finally fix anything or even if existing customers will get it.

@ OP : give your specs, and wait for a competent answer.
In the meantime, I'll nuance what the others have said. The PC port has issues, but not on every rig. There are some graphic card incompatibilitites, but a majority of people can run the game just fine (for exemple, I had no specific problems once I updated the drivers of my graphic card).
But just in case, as I said, give more details about your spec, and wait for an answer by someone who actually knows what he/she's talking about.

but is normal 30fps when there is some vid? i have 60 fps in 2k while i play and 30 (30!! no sense) while story telling. anyone have some solution?

Had 0 problems on my PC from day one, and that was with my okd FX8350. It must be hardware related.

The cutscenes are set to 30FPS.

Everything is ok. I finished it twice without any mods, bugs and crashes.
I think, that the main reason of all in-game problems is sitting in front of the monitor.

PC port is crap. Won't render properly unless you install a mod.

This is a good port. I use Borderless Gaming and never had a problem (takes like 5 minutes to install and it's free). Seriously, I don't get where these 'crap port' people are coming from. Final Fantasy, DMC HD, Japanese ports in general are always so much worse that you can't complain.
