Tough one. On Easy and Normal difficulty, there isn't much of a difference between all the weapons to be honest. On Hard and Very Hard things change as weapons' bonuses like increased attack speed or increased critical damage become more important.

If it is your first time playing, I suggest you keep Virtuous Treaty and Virtuous Contract (2B's default weapons) and call it a day. Do some side-quests and you will get Type-4O Sword and Type-4O blade, which deal increased damage after not being used for a while. Type-3 weapons are also interesting, as they add a nice finishing blast.

Keep in mind that upgrading changes stats of weapons and unlocks bonuses, but it won't have such an impact like Plug-in Chips and levelling up.

Allright...I'm actually kinda lost in this game...and seems to have no idea of what I'm doing. Soundtracks are great, story interesting but very puzzling as well. So, should I upgrade my present virtuous set or wait for type 40 set? And currently my level is 10..but there's no skill unlock menu, just chips and stuffs which is just going over my head..lol..
It is a bit confusing, yes, especially considering that this game doesn't lead you as other current titles do. However, once you get the hang of it, it really isn't that hard.

For weapons: Yes, just upgrade the two you have. Later on you will get different types of crafting material to further upgrade them and other weapons you find. Focusing on two to four is sufficient, though. Apart from that, there is one side-quest which requires you to have all weapons upgraded to level 4.

Skills aren't unlocked but plugged in as chips. Yes, these chips add skills and bonuses. Navigate to Skills tab in pause menu, get to Plug-in Chips, select Set A and put some of the chips your picked up in there. +1, +2 and so an mean a chip has a stronger effect, [6] means that this chip requires 6 memory slots; the lower the better, smallest slotrequirement possible is marked with a diamond - get these! Memory slots can either be freed by removing present system chips at the cost of losing HUD elements or life, or be expanded by buying memory slot upgrades at a dealer in Resistance Camp (I think 128 is maximum).
All in all you have three chipsets available which you can either customize as described or fill automatically.

Allright...So..what's this 6 chip slot thing, in simple terms? Yah, I'm seeing 1-20 numbers being written beside the chips! Are those indicate the quantity of chips I hold or the number of slots being used? And, where i can get better pods? The directional constraints is also an issue. Means, on ladders and in some stages of a fight, this acts as a 2D game and I can't damn see what's going on or from where the attack is coming from...

And how to open those special chests which says, "I can't access this right now"?
For example, you can get a Ranged Attack +2 [9] chip. This means that your ranged attack damage is increased when equipped. +2 indicates that this particular chip is level 2 (actually level 3, since the lowest level isn't indicated separately and thus isn't counted). [9] means that it takes nine memory space slots of which you can have 128 at maximum. If it were a Ranged Attack +2 [6] ◊ chip, it would still be a level 2 chip which increased damage as the previous mentioned. In contrast, it only takes six memory space slots, which is at the same time the lowest possible space consumed for a +2 chip, therefore the ◊ symbol. Simple rule: The less space a chip uses, the more chips at all can be installed.

There are three Pods available, which can be found along the story. Note that none of them is missable, however I won't tell you where they are located because of spoilers. Additionally, these three pods can be upgraded to level 4 like weapons but in addition to crafting materials they need Power-Up Parts which are quite well hidden. Like with the other Pods: Explore to find them, they aren't missable either. Upgrading Pods takes some time though, as one crafting material (Pure Water) can only be obtained later in game - don't worry, you haven't even reached the first eighth of the game.

About locked chests: Wait for it. Spoilers otherwise.

Thanks man...Thanks for this huge help. I guess, I'm beginning to get the true vibe of this game. Else, I just have defeated that orchestra boss and it was really hard considering the directional issues but guess that's how it is. Besides, anyway to get rid of double tap issue for evasions, like mods or something, I'm already using FAR mod, cause of my ♥♥♥♥ PC. And, is the costume DLC worth buying for it?

Look at this guide for the double tap issue. It also improve other aspect such as air slide and Pod firing. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=886396996

As for the DLC, I bought it but it was on sale. It doesn't give you a lot more except some costumes and extra location (arena) to fight wave of enemies and insanely hard boss at the end.
Frankly, get a controller for this game. I am a dedicated m&kb gamer but this game actually made me accept controller as a legit input device for PC gaming. Either get an Xbox One controller or, if you don't mind having a cable attached, a Nacon GC-100FX (Xbox 360-style) or a Logitech F310 (PS3-style).

Thanks man..but is installing that mod safe? And, those costumes unlock if one can beat the arenas right?

It's safe, you can look at the comments too. The costumes you get them by completing the first few "rank" of each arena (there is 3) each one give a costume for a different character. The insane boss is a special rank after beating all the others.
I've just upgraded Demon's Cry bracers to level 4 and they are completely broken against groups of enemies. From what I understand its lvl4 effect causes nearby enemies to explode when you kill someone, in other words kill one enemy and the rest will die too. The offhand is 4O spear for strong and awesome looking charge/dash attacks.

For bosses I have Ancient Overlord and Spear of the Usurper because crits deal insane damage in this game. Ancient Overlord + Fang of the Twins is decent too but small sword + spear in offhand have a faster combo chain so you're not locked in attack animation long enough for it to become a problem.
