If you like the psuedo-anime style, hack and slash games, good stories, good characters, and philosophical influences then, yeah, go for it.

It is worth half the price, so get it on a sale. Gameplay, story and especially the soundtrack are phenomenal, but the game itself has more bugs than a coleopterist. However, said bugs can easily be fixed by using FAR mod.

Just finished nier and, for me, YES it's worth it! I rarely buy games less than a year after release. The music is great!

Worth it, 100%.
I was doubting myself before, but that was unneeded worries. get the community FAR mod, I just finished my main playthrough at 70 hours with quite a lot of things yet to solve.

I didn't think so (not worth the time or money). But I'm not a fan of anime style (story, visuals, music) or MMO style gameplay and empty questing. Might be worth it if you are into anime MMO's.

If you do buy and didn't love it after 20 hours, DONT keep playing. You will be an old man, filled with regrets.

Yes. I'm not really a fan of Jrpg, anime or Japanese culture type stuff (just look at my library) but this game offers a very unique experience.

Worth full price for the great characters and storytelling alone.

OP If you are a fan of Dark Souls.... this might help.
I was looking for a new DS genre game. Was thinking about Bayonetta or NieR.
Both are no real DS experience.

Bayonetta is probably the most non-stop action pumped adrenaline fueled game in my library. After playing 10 minutes I felt 10 years older

NieR is waaay more relaxing but also full of action! And the music..... wow. It brings back memories of Secret of Mana for some reason. I often stay a little longer in a zone to hear my favourite songs.

This is not a DS game, but I'm not disappointed, even from a DS (fan) point of view. It's refreshing!
