The sword in question (a 2-handed one, I believe) can be found outside of the factory, at the end of the platform (where you previously ran down across that miles long road that crossed the water and fought the final boss of the prologue).
Beyond that, it's mostly a matter of choice and preference as you'll eventually unlock the ability to level up weapons, and so weapons mostly just differs in their combos and slightly different base stats.
But with the initial one-handed (light) sword you've got combined with the two-handed (heavy) sword you had in the prologue, you'll be set for quite a while if you don't want to buy another weapon.
oh you mean based on the stats? pick the one with the highest dmg stats. it's easy to see.
In the end you have to upgrade everything, so might as well practice with all weapon types.
But then I started to love 2Bs starting sword, Virtuous Contract, which I upgraded and the long sword stuck in the ground in front of the factory, Virtuous Treaty. They also look really cool ^^
This isn't Dark Souls where you need to worry about sneaking a single big hit into an opening, you can just dodge-spam and abuse the hell out of counterattack i-frames for the entirety of the game.
I got almost all the way through the S-rank colosseum at level 76 with a trash-tier plugin layout and no pod upgrades.
Switching to mediocre plugins and maxing out the gatling just trivialized the whole thing.
You don't have to put any thought into a build until special rank.
When I suddenly realized I was heading back to the beginning area of the game, so I kept going. I finally found a spot with someone (an android?) lying on the ground, and there was a sword sticking in the ground straight up. So, I grabbed it. I also picked up one of the loot items and immediately received like a hundred Small restores, all the junk to complete my objectives, and a million other generic loot items. I was like wtf?
Wait.. Was that part of the scripted story (cutscene)? I took my headphones off and wasn't looking at the screen at one point. Bet that was it. Thanks for the heads up. I won't be distracted again.
Yeah, that's your corpse and items from the end of the Prologue chapter, the scripted cutscene that plays out.
