Is there any fix for the micro-stutter?
So I'm 8 1/2 hours into the game and I've tried everything I can think of to deal with the micro-stutter issue. I'm using the latest FAR mod, I've got the latest NVidia drivers installed, and I've even tried multiple monitors thinking that maybe my 35" Acer Predator 21x9 monitor was the issue but the micro-stutter occurs on my other 1080p, 1440p, and 2160p screens just the same.

The frame counter says the game never dips below 50 FPS but there is this annoying stutter all the time and its making me nauseous.

This is my rig[pcpartpicker.com]

I'm sure its not my hardware (i7 4770K, GTX1080, etc) since this beast runs every game at 100Hz or higher.

Have you tried turning aa off? There is a issue with it's implementation in this game.

i think i've tried everything. Turn off AA ,turn off everything , Low-Mid-High settings. FAR tweak most settings.

The FPS counter show the game is running stable on 60 fps. but still there are micro stutter here and there all the time the FPS counter didn't even dip when the stutter happen.

so Bizarre.

Suck it up, it's the game engine's issue. The game will still be enjoyable even with the stutters.

EDIT: Mine is set to Ultra settings, even tried the lowest settings and lower resolution, but the same stutters happen. Does not matter which settings you use or how powerful your rig is, the stutters are inherent or tied to the game's engine. The developers should be the ones fixing this, but still they have no clue where to start. Not even the PS4 version has the fix for this, so it's obvious from the start how clueless they are on resolving this.

1. Enable "Remove 60 FPS Cap"
2. Ensure that FAR's frame limiter is set to 59.94
3. Move the game to a SSD disk
4. Play in Fullscreen Mode
5. Disable Anti-Aliasing'
6. Lower Global Illumination to High (FAR's control panel)

And that's about it, really. You won't be able to prevent the occasional stutters that happens when the game streams data and populates the world, but microstuttering always isn't the norm.

What refresh rate is your monitor set to?

Make sure it's set to 60hz or 59hz if it's available (this will set it to 59.94hz, the same as consoles use), otherwise you will get timing issues causing judder. Eg: 60fps doesn't sync properly with a 144hz refresh rate.

Also make sure Vsync is ON even if in windowed mode for this game as it uses internal Vsync.

Interesting... my monitor Predator is overclocked to 100Hz though my other monitors are all 60Hz and I still have the micro-stutter on all of the monitors I have tried.

I don't have VSync on since I have a GSync monitor. The framerate is stable as a rock at 60 FPS and even when it drops the drop is just fine compared to the constant stutter I'm getting.

I will give these suggestions a spin. Thanks! Sounds like my issue might be unique since there is a constant stutter. The only way to stop the stutter is to not move the character. As soon as I start running there are very subtle stutters that are really messing with my mind.

I'm 10.5 hours in now and the enjoyment is pretty much completely cancelled out by the stutters. I ended taking some Dramamine earlier today to keep myself from getting vertigo. I understand stutter is perceptibly different among different groups of people but I'm highly sensitive to it.

The game itself is very fun but the stutter ruins it since I can only play it for 20 minute stretches.

I'm kicking myself for buying that DLC because there's no way I'm gonna be playing this game more than once so I'll never see whatever the DLC is since I was recently told the DLC isn't available until you beat the game like 3 times or something like that.

That shouldn't be an issue. I believe Microsoft exposes both 60 and 59 Hz but basically sets them to the same at the OS level.

In Windows 7 and newer versions of Windows, when a user selects 60Hz, the OS stores a value of 59.94Hz. However, 59Hz is shown in the Screen refresh rate in Control Panel, even though the user selected 60Hz.

It depends entirely on your setup. Windows sets my refresh rate to a flat 60.00hz when selecting 60hz, and 59.94hz when selecting 59hz.
However I do use a TV as my monitor.

If I set to 60hz in almost any game that uses a built-in framelimiter it results in a very slight spike (can be seen as a small hitch when standing and rotating the camera) every 3-4 seconds whereas 59hz is entirely fluid.

Again it depends on your setup, so not sure if it's the same problem TC is experiencing.

Ohhh, okay... I should've probably read that page more thoroughly:

Specifically, this behavior occurs on monitors that report a TV-compatible timing of 59.94Hz, but not 60Hz.

My bad :(

Also, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I have relied on that page in the past. Nooooooooo!

Since the game's default AA settings aren't great could u get better results visually and performance wise if u forced AA through your video card's settings instead of the game's default AA?

I didn't had any stutter after installing the game on my EVO 850 + FAR Mod. Check your PC first.

Moving the game from my SATA drive to SSD seems to have helped a great deal. I need to play a bit more to be certain though. So far so good. Thanks for the suggestions everyone

on a 970 evo plus + 2700x + RTX3070, I should be able to 200FPS this on my 1440p@144hz monitor but it stutters so much I want to never touch the game again, it's almost unplayable. This is using the FAR mod
