Yes. The game is pretty anooying in that aspect... it´s painful to discover that gold ore is a crafting material...

All items with "can be exchanged for money" and all chips you won't use. No need to sell anything else, money can be an issue only at the very beginning.

Hold on to a desert rose though, you'll need one, unless you've done that part already, you'll know about it if you have.

No need to hold on desert rose since you can easily obtain it when required. No real need to sell it either though.

Yeah, that was my train of thought while playing. All the items marked "can be sold" were so easy to get that on the off chance of suddenly needing one it wouldn't be any trouble to get one anyway - let alone if they don't simply spawn one for you to grab.
