[Bug] Infinite Loop after Prologue on the Second Playtrhough
Hello,

i finished Nier yesterday and wanted to play through Plot B. After the Prologue, when the "Record" of the Setting Up of 2B starts, and i am getting to the Sound Options, the Game Enters a Infinite Loop where 9S is Saying you should higher the Souns Settings. Even if it's says that you can Skip this part by holding ESC, nothing happens. Also the Game does not take any Input , neither from Keyboard, Mouse or a Controller. Also if i try to Skip the Sequence earlier, so that it doesn't get to taht point, the Option to skip doesn't trigger.

I Restarted the Game several Times, but the Infinite Loop triggers always and i can't get Around it. Is there any Help for me?

Does other Plyer expirence the Same Bug?

That is actually a recording from your first playthrough, where it displays your input you made as 2B. So if you idled there for a lot of time, all you will be seeing here is you idling in the past.

I'm having this exact problem, literally no way to get past it and just stuck in this loop, I don't remember ever idling during this point so no idea why it would be doing this.

Let me know if you find a fix or anything!

(update) I just left it for 15 minutes and it skipped the whole section lol

Had the same problem, it is not a loop, even though i thought the same thing.
When I was playing through this part as 2B the game crashed (this was the single crush for me) and when I continued I thought nothing happend, but on the second playthrough I got stuck in this "loop" so just let it idle for some time and it should be ok.:hacking:

This problem IS a bug - for some unknown reason, the game developer has chosen to interact with the game's Menu options during 2B's reboot sequence (9S play-through). Some PC setups have greyed/unselectable Main Menu options, including Sound. The unselectable Sound options creates an infinite game loop - requiring Task Manager forced quit (I waited several minutes before using Task Manager quit, multiple times).

Please submit a problem report to both Steam and Square Enix.

Please note that you're going over the boundaries of the particular bug you describe. The fact that some options are not selectable before having created/loaded a save file is because those settings are stored per-save and not globally, as is the case with the two threads you linked to.

What you're describing however is a scenario that could potentially occur if the hardware or computer have switched between the time of the recording during route A and the playback during route B. The change in hardware/computer/etc could cause different options to be available, which could result in the bug you described.

But that issue is separate from the main menu settings options being greyed out. Those aren't available because, as I mentioned, they're stored per-save and must be changed after loading a certain slot.

Edit: Also, I've heard from someone that the recording ends itself after upwards of 25 minutes of waiting, so just wait and it could potentially solve itself.

By the way, this unselectable Menu options problem occurs with fresh game download, New Game, no saves, no global saves - Steam Cloud disabled (already tested, based upon Steam support recommendation). Also note that I have tested this issue on 3 different OS's and 2 different hardware setups.

After hours of observation and testing, the looping during the second play-through and the disabled controls are intertwined problems - unrelated to corrupted save file problems.

In fact, during recent testing, I lost some of my save files, so I will have to replay some of the game to test the 30 minute wait suggestion...

Finally had a chance to restart the game and play through the 9S looping problem (during 2B's "voice" check). The looping stopped after about 10 minutes, on my setup. Thanks for the suggestion to wait even more time - I can finally continue this great game...

gonna necro the thread a bit here but it's important because this bug still exists today. Re eanabling the framerate limiter doesnt work. Also the recording isnt standing still because of afk. I remember how i did the brightness settings, i pressed no, but in the recording it pressed yes. also it made the volume go all the way down, which is not what i did.

if you are impatient, just install cheat engine and use the speedhack command. saved me 10 mins i guess.

The bug keeps happening. In my case in the self-destruction part.

If you leave it for 10 minutes at 9S the recording capacity runs out and the loop is over!

Blessed 9S!
