Isn't the 950M more along the lines of a CSGO card?

Though with my prior experience with laptops, it seems more prudent to use a portable desktop if possible.

Your game is running on your intel GPU. Go into nvidia control panel and add a custom 3d profile for nier automata by manually selecting exe. Then set default GPU as "High performance Nvidia GPU"

It is a weak card yes but shouldnt freeze screen, it should run game at 30 fps at least, frozen screen definitely points out to the intel gpu running the game instead

The 950M is not all that great in terms of video performance. While I understand that it is very much possible for laptops to have good graphics (the 960M can run Doom 4 at a native 1080p on Medium), the 950M is more geared towards lightweight 3D apps such as MOBAs and CounterStrike Global Offensive.

950m is actually well below the game's minimum specs to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if it's performance outside of Memory is likely about as good as a desktop 640 or 650. I know the 960m and 980m was below a 660 and 650 performance wise... so assuming a 950m would be even worse.

950 is a budget card, let alone the M version. People are struggling with this game even with 970 or 980 due to poor optimizations.

you can try the lowest settings and 720p (or lower).

It's a 950m bro. It is a bad card in other words. Get a refund if you can and do a little research on your computer before throwing money away.

To put it frank. If anyone is trying to play this game with a 970 beyond 1080p they're an idiot. Just throwing that out there. Most tech reviews of the 970 literally called it a 1080p GPU for budget gamers who do not care to play games at a higher resolution, and as long as they stick with 1080p or less the GPU is a very good one. I never have much problems with it but I don't play games beyond 1080p. This game I have a 970, and it's working beautifully, but I'm playing borderless windowmode at 1080p. *shrugs*
