Are there any games On Steam like Nier Automata?

I love this game to death, but are there any games like it on the steam store? Or is it unique?

That depends, what about it do you love? Stories like Automata's are pretty rare -- really the only other games I'd say are like it are the rest of the NieR/Drakengard games, which are all on consoles. If you want something else with similar gameplay, though, try Bayonetta.

Bayonetta, DMC, Darksiders. You can look at those for action games with similar combat, but they tend to not have as much RPG gameplay (Darksiders II is probably the closest).

Yeah Darksiders 2 has RPG skill trees and randomized loot dropping. Has some Zelda-like elements with backtracking with new abilities, climbing walls, solving puzzles, etc.

Darksiders 1 lacks pretty much all of the RPG elements.

Platinum Games in general play similar to NieR mechanically, but they're typically not RPGs. Still might want to look at Bayonetta, Transformers: Devastation, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, and by extension, Devil May Cry, which is by the same director of Platinum games. (hence why Bayonetta is so similar to DMC).

Chantelise might be similar, being an action-RPG, but it's a pretty rough game by comparison.

Kind of depends on how far you want to dig into Action-RPGs as a genre really. But there's not much that is similar to NieR in theme AND is in the same genre, or mixes genres so much (like the camera angle changes between classic ARPGs and newer ones, Shoot-em-up portions, etc)

"ENSLAVED: Odyssey to the West" (the "Premium Edition" is available on Steam) has many gameplay elements that are similar to Nier/Nier Automata. Elements I find similar are the evolving combat, shifting gameplay modes, oversized bosses, character development, excellent voice acting and animation quality, a post-apocalyptic setting, a chatty sidekick, etc). It is not, however, an RPG.


You might enjoy that (plus, the price is only $20).

Blades of Time isn't as polished, nor is the story as interesting... but it has a charm of its own, especially you like a woman with dual swords kicking ass. If you like soundtracks, it's worth the extra few dollars for the Limited Edition.

The Witcher 3 has much better world, characters, story, sidequests, graphics, it's much longer, and has 2 real expansions, not shi.tty cut content dlc. The combat isn't very good (however it is enjoyable), but Nier Automata's combat isn't very good either (too simple and 0 progression, the battles vary from easy to impossible). Also, it's cheaper and it doesn't have problems with modern hardware and the devs of the game deserve all your money because they care about their customers, not like SquareEnix and Platinum.

If you love this game so much I suggest you buy a cheap x360 or ps3 and buy a copy of NieR Gestalt. The only reason I say this is because I have never seen another game that is like NieR, its one of the most unique experiences ever. And in case you already played the first NieR, then I cant help you.😅
