No not simultaneously (well you can, but the more time you wait (not to long), the higher you will get) and your problem doesn't occur because of timing. You would make a descending attack if you push secondary attack in the air to late. If you jump forward you most likely had a direction key pressed (Controller stick pushed forward, keyboard pushing W or sth like that)
You can jump higher by using a secondary attack without going into any direction (so no movement with the character except jumping)
I think you can also jump and directly shoot with the pod to get higher, but I have never used this on PC so I can't confirm it (should technically work).
Edit: sorry tired, meant secondary attack.
There are many other tricks, but you don't really gain anything from them, except that you can glitch out of the top of the maps.
For jumping farther there are other tricks, even there it is enough to know one, because mainly you just need a few metres higher/farther for most things, the rest is just a bonus if you want to do it, but I don't know any benefit which you couldn't archieve normaly. (you can even skip higher jumping, because there is another way around many things most of the time)
But I can't make the second high jump in air :(
How can I do it?
There's nothing there. The only buildings in the desert that have valuable stuff is all accessible just by walking up a bunch of stairs and maybe do a jump or a double jump.
Outside of the City there is one big stone rock that have an item on the top of it - it is unreacheble for a normal jump.
I could take it only with very long jump from another rock, that too far for a normal jump.
So as I guess there should be another items that required very high jump.
It is a logical 'coz that item is UNREACHIBLE for normal jumps.
PS how to make screenshot in steam and add to this topic?
I really only needed to do that at to directly jump to the front castle top floor. Everywhere else I needed to go seemed more about long jumps rather than high jumps.
I don't know of any place (except in the castle, haven't found another way to reach the top floor yet) in which you would need a high jump to reach something (longer jump yes), it is true some thing can be reached with the high jump quicker, but there was always a way around the high jump.
You can correct me if I am wrong. Same goes if I got the wrong "stones" you were speaking of.

How to repeat that?
The next part you examine is that he switches his weapon sets and specifically also mentions that he uses a spear because it executes quicker.
It's not rocket science, you just need to put the pieces together what's happening and solve it. Think of it like a puzzle.
You can have people tell you what buttons you need to press at what moments exactly, but where's the fun in that? You're already spoiling yourself by looking up videos how to do it instead of trying to figure it out for yourself. And then you go on the forum and ask how they do that.
Start with the basics first, find out what button does what with what weapon and just take small steps from there. You don't need to find the perfect solution in 2 minutes.
p.s. quad jumps and quint jumps are not required for any of the intended locations (Only for the self destruct thing to get into areas before they're normally accessible, but that's not intended by devs anyway). A proper timed double jump, sword up, air dash and pod glide can get you everywhere except one spot, and then you can still use mirage to give you that extra edge you need for that last one.
You really don't need to master quad/quint jumps, but if you want to, try to solve it out yourself instead of sulking and demanding we tell you how to do it.
