People like her for a couple of reasons:
- Her butt (like, seriously, have you looked at the artwork for this game?)
- Her tormented existence
- Her personality that she does whatever she can to kill as much as possible
- Her very reason for existing
- etc etc etc
The S series of models (like 9S) is helluva smart and is therefor more expressive than most other androids. And A2 have abandoned the YoRHa project after she realized the lies that it stood for. Both of them can be more expressive than 2B, and that's why they are.
9S is not more protagonist than the 2 heroines imo. By the very end he still had to save by 2B through 2A, he was the victim and a man in distress. All protagonists contributed to game in different ways imo.
9S's story was more cinematic the the rest of the protagonists sure, but the fact that 2B's character was still developing even after death , was very cool imo.The more 9S talk to 2B she was more and more emotional towards 9S. The final revelation about 2B being 2E made everything to make sense to me. You can see that 2B was in pain when she talked to 9S in route A/B. And it made her emotions to 9S to feel more real.
And yes sidequest help even more. Its different kind of story telling that can only be told in a video game. And that's why I like this game so much.
I'm fully aware of it. i even stated it in what i wrote... but for me... it just doesn't do it. maybe if they showed her tormented side more often then i would reconsider but since it's only shown in a few key points its hard for me to care.
Replaying route A is great for all the foreshadowing that's going on. Directly after the prologue mission you can see 2B clench her fist in anger when she learns that 9S uploaded her memory while his own was reset once more.
Friggin hell, 2B's whole story makes me sad just thinking about.
But how much is enough? The whole game is riddled with 2B showing partially concealed torment all over the place.
.............................................
A2 was used as a model to create the E model. The E model were an Executioner class of YoRHa androids designed to execute other YoRHa androids that learned the truth of the YoRHa project. They were also used to protect the Council of Humanity on the moon.
The E models were given different designations as a cover so that their targets (usually one of the S models) wouldn't know what to expect and would treat them as regular YoRHa androids. In 2E's particular case she got the 2B designation as her cover.
Her mission? Kill the flying ♥♥♥♥ out of 9S whenever he got too close to learning the truth of the YoRHa project.
Her torment? The poor gal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loves 9S, and have been forced to kill him over and over and over and over and over again since that's her job. Worst part is that she remembers most of the times while 9S doesn't remember a thing. They're both trapped in a never ending circle of death and resurrection.
That's also why one of 2B's swords are actually 9S in sword form (don't ask me how that works) where that instance of 9S is happy as he can be close to her without causing her suffering.
Despite the theme, the ban on emotions, all of it, I also still felt 2B was a typical, edgy character of sorts. But unlike other characters I've seen, she had a sense of innocence to her that made her somewhat interesting. So I stuck around.
It all changed after the bunker's destruction. When her eyes lit up red which indicated her final moments, that was painful to watch. Although she doesn't seem as dynamic as 9S who spiralled into madness, she is still a character I like nonetheless. Because despite being thrown around as a pawn and becoming victim to everything, she still fought until the end. The true sign of a warrior.
So does this mean that 2B had killed 9S other times that weren't shown in game? because that is the vibe you're giving me. and also, if that is the case, now i actually feel bad for her.
