DUSK
i don't understand the game and it feels boring
i just don't understand how the game is so good
im early on so it might just be that but the game feels just kinda bland and i take like 2 week intervals when playing it just because of how basic it feels.
idk if im like being overcritical just to be critical subconciously or something but i just kinda dont really enjoy the game that much
does it get better in later chapters?
last newblood game i played was ultrakill
am i missing something?
i've heard really good reviews about the game

Dusk escalates a lot after episode 1, yes, so you may start enjoying it a lot more in the second chapter. But also, it stays true to many core pillars of the retro style fps formula, so if that is not something you like, then the game may not be for you. Ultrakill works very differently to dusk, so it may just be a difference in expectation for you. There are things in dusk that might be familiar to you though, like some hidden movement tech etc, But it certainly isn't built with a primary focus on style. Dusk is equal parts retro fps combat, horror ambience, and exploration.

Keep progressing. The game introduce things that makes it better and better gradually.

I bought Dusk some years ago, played to the woods level where you find the sniper rifle and kept thinking: why did I just not spend my time playing a good quality quake 1 mod for free instead? And then I refunded the game.

A couple of years later I rebought it, played it past that level, completed the game and ended up really, really liking it; especially the later episodes. Now I check the steam page every week for Dusk HD so I can get a good reason to replay it.

yup its this good. btw I read you mention about quake 1 content... everyone here needs to try the new Dwell episodes. This is Quake at its finest:

Also took me a bit to get into it. Not sure what the turning point was, but the gameplay just clicked and I loved it.
