I'm lost....so when you kill the altar and the big tornado comes what are you supposed to do?

Assert dominance, just stand in front of it, it will be scared from your weaponry and steer away.

Shout obsceneties at it from a safe distance. It won't work at first, but if you can stay alive long enough, it will.

As soon as you're inside the tornado, you have to flip your weapons very very fast to change the air flow!
