Or let's say you get a DLC for that extra story and progression for your shooter, like Destiny 2.
And just go to your stash and get free weapons.
Or .. I don't know, Diablo. Or EVE Online.. Or what have you
It's not an outlandish thought, a DLC should never break progression, I think.
It just feels better.
You've paid real money for a game experience.
The game experience could be better if getting those guns was a part of progression.
If there was a box in the settings to tick, like "hardcore mode" - where you need to get guns through.. you know, hunting and achievement - I'd gladly tick it
And just let people who want immediate access to weaponry have their immediate access.
which I don't agree with at all, but some people apparently don't like it, so why do they only please one side of the community?
So our solution is an option in the menu, to make DLC progression with in-game currency like a OFF and ON thing for those who wants to free guns for DLC and those who want to grind and buy it with in-game money.
So that would mean we can still buy all DLC's to support the game and also get our wish for us who wants to progression
id really like to have an option to be able to purchase them though.
same
You pay for a game experience that was created and placed by the development team.
This is how you support the game and it's future updates.
This is how you participate.
I would like my game experience to be meaningful and achievable, having a sense of progression. Because when something comes easily to you - you don't value it as much.
I enjoy something much more when I earned it and didn't just throw bucks in the air.
So, when the "hunter-me" gets a load of guns out of the blue - it feels like cheating.
Pre-order / DLC weapons have this issue that they have to be more relevant in the long run than whatever peashooter you start with, yet if they are the best end game choices, you might end up skipping the entire weapon progression.
Recent Assassins Creed games would be an example: by paying more for a 'Gold Edition' game you get a weapon that can serve you for dozens of hours and effectively reduces your motivation to try all the other weapon archetypes (available to you only in their basic, "bad" form). Why try a basic halberd, axe, dagger when your Legendary Fire Sword does at least twice the damage?
Since CotW is a sandbox game anyway, maybe you just have to do the next best thing and create a sandbox rule for yourself that you won't touch DLC weapons in the first 5-15 hours.
ON - In-game money and progress (get the guns through weapon score and in-game currency)
OFF - Free guns and no progress (get them right away, only needing to buy ammo)
Weapons that come with weapon packs need to be 'purchased' from the in-game store but are classed as 'free'. You do still end up spending a lot of money on ammo though.
thats why i said that id like to have an option. so everyone could choose if they want to get things for free or earn them.
It should be optional, and the checkbox should NOT default to the way it is now. Let the I-paid-Twice whiners ask their question and people can respond with, "So go check the box!"
Do these people play any other games at all with DLC expansions? That "I paid twice argument" boggles the mind. No... you paid real money once. Is there any other game out there that follows this model? I dunno, maybe it's just this genre for the non-gamer hunter-folk?
Most games I play have startup options, or cheat menus to specifically manage this sort of thing. Odd that they have taken this path. Must be something stupid in their code structure blocking it.
