Will my character gain carrying capacity? If not, any tips?
My character usually carries a rifle, a shotgun, a pistol, and a bow, plus a few callers (and a pair of binoculars).

But I've been wanting to carry a hunting stand (or a blind), which definitely puts me over my 20 weight limit.

I know there are backpacks, but I know they REALLY add to your noise profile (which I'm already pushing my limits without wearing one).

Will my character eventually gain carry capacity (perhaps as a skill), or am I really just stuck at 20, and need to just leave a couple weapons behind?

Any tips?

----

Also, on a semi-related note, does my current weight affect my noise profile?

(i.e. if I'm carrying 19.69 / 20.00 equipment, do I make more noise by moving than I would if I carried far less equipment?)

Cool. Thanks for the tips. I'll try to get that Packmule skill when I can.

(Admittedly, I probably could also do like me_time suggested and use a backpack, and just get some skills that quiet me down)

By the way, what about my current weight?
Does that actually matter to my noise levels, or is it just one universal rating, regardless of how much I weigh?

Weight has no effect on the amount of noise generated.

Ah, thanks for the info, everyone.

Yes, wearing a backpack does indeed increase the noise you generate.

But it says backpacks increase the amount of noise you make.. I've been wanting to buy backpacks as well but I'm hesitated because of the description.

They do increase it noticeably.
That said, you can remove them. (On the character screen, not your inventory).

I say go for it.
If you don't like it, you can always take it off.
(i.e. It's not a permanent increase)

I bought one early and used it until I recognized how much noise it made. So I stopped using it.

Now that I am at a higher level, I usually use ambush tactics over stalking tactics, therefore the backpack is really helpful to carry a full loadout. When I setup an ambush and may encounter many types of animals, I want at 4 weapons and a stand. The noise really doesn't matter if you are not actively trying to sneak up on animals.

If you decide to do some close encounters, take the pack off and stow it until you need it.

"Backpack no longer makes noise when standing still" From the August TruPatch.

I myself don't use a backpack but if you haven't tried them in a while it seems like as long as you're not moving a lot they may be more useful now.

A few strategically placed tents have reduced my use of backpacks dramatically. Most of the time now only use them to set up or relocate a F O B.
I'd recommend carrying a tent with you, rather than a stand or tripod. When you get to where you want to hunt, put the tent down and use the inventory there to grab what you need. You've got your whole inventory with you, that way and a mobile span location.

Unless you need range finder Binocs for some mission, you can save some weight by using your camera (better FOV,better DPI) to find game and it will cost you nothing. For short trips I use scent eliminator at tent or base then remove it. Unless your hunting fowl I find the Bow and Shotgun redundant (my opinion as bowhunter). If running rabbits are a must Parque DLC includes a very nice .45LC/.410 (class2/class0) pistol. A great weight saver.

Personally, I just use the small carry-pack thing.

For now, I'm just going around Hirschfelden and Layton trying to level up, and gain weapon levels, too.
My guy is still locked to the basic weapons (the stuff for deer).

And while I do have things like the 30.06 and 22LR... eh, I'm still stubborn. I want to level up my skill to use the big guns.
(I'm tired of being scared of things like Bison. :lunar2020playfuldog:)

well dont shy away from that 30.06 it will help you raise your rifle score (red deer, elk) and get you to your goal that much quicker. On those maps I would dump the shotgun and carry both your 30-06 and your Deer rifle, weight permitting , as discussed above. The new scoring (class) system will change things soon anyway. After that you can reevaluate your ultimate loadout.
