This is what I use:
For Skills, this is my go-to Spot and Stalk build as it allows me to carry 23kg without any packs, making me as stealthy as possible while being able to carry a tent with me:
~Stalker~
3/3 Locate Tracks
3/3 Track Knowledge
2/2 I'm Only Happy When It Rains
2/2 Soft Feet
1/1 Improvised Blind
1/1 Endurance
~Ambusher~
2/4 Scent Tinkerer
3/3 Spotting Knowledge
1/1 Dazed And Confused
1/1 Sight Spotting
2/2 Fatal Attraction
1/1 Pack Mule
For Perks, these allow me to be as proficient as possible with rifles and bows. I don't waste points on "Activated" skills like Zeroing, Windage or Ranger. Personal skill as you practice and learn and other equipment (such as rangefinders) do the same thing:
~Rifles~
2/2 Muscle Memory
3/3 Breath Control
2/2 Steady Hands
~Handguns~
1/1 Sprint & Load
~Shotguns~
1/2 Both Eyes Open
2/2 Fast Shouldering
~Archery~
3/3 Full Draw
1/1 Move & Shoot
2/2 Increased Confidence
1/1 Like A Pro
2/2 Recycle
2/2 Pumping Iron
But why don't have the zeroing perk? I found it relatively useful...
I would only suggest getting the zeroing perk if you plan to regularly take 225m+ rifle shots, 125m+ slug and revolver shots, or you use a crossbow or compound bow without that sight mentioned above. I like to hunt instead of playing target practice. Cheers!
This is, basically, my reasoning as well. And even when you do have to shoot beyond 150m, the holdover isn't really that awful much, in my experience. I just aim a tad higher than I normally would. For deer, for example, at 150m, I'd aim just above and behind the front shoulder. At 200+, I'm aiming a bit higher, nearer to the spine. I've never made a 300m shot but I'd guess that I still wouldn't have to hold the reticle above the animal.
I heard, not sure how true it is, that if you have 3/3 in Track Knowledge and either 2/3 or 3/3 in spotting knowledge, you'll always get the lowest weight on the animal when you get a weight range.
I don't know how true this is as I'm really not a trophy hunter but I've had my fair share of golds and one diamond in my 200 hours of playing.
Can confirm. However, word on the grapevine is it's unintentional and going to get patched out sooner or later so if you're going to go this route do so knowing that you can only enjoy it while it lasts.

Recoil Management in Shotgun tree is essential because it applies to all guns and enables you to rapidly shoot with clip-loaded rifles like MN 1890, 30.06, .300 shot after shot.
Otherwise especially with .300 the recoil would be simply too much and will throw your aim and target awareness completely off after first shot.
I dont really use scents at all and are not much of the ambusher who sits on the tripod or treestand for hours, I like to roam around between the need zones and hunt targets of opportunity from calls and visual spotting and wont shy away from challenging 300-400m shots hence the Zeroing active perk is very useful to rapidly adjust your shooting distance between variety of ranges without thinking too much about it. Some people may call it crutch but it`s very convenient and effective to use and hunters zero their rifles in real life as well anyway.
Otherwise I would just try the different playstyles...^^
Thx so far guys!
You can reset your skills and perks for ingame cash, yes. The more points spent, the more it costs.
Since last animal reset I found the weight range is no longer the minimum all the time. It can be minimum still but at least it varies.
Two optional skills I use are who's deer for added atraction of animals without callers. I am using the keen eye skill for a few weeks while playing. Will be jumping in and out of spain to open need zones around look outs. Started using the Zero'ing now that it is fixed. Mainly for the long range option.
3,500 Credits per perk/skill point refunded. So, for example, if you choose to reset your shotgun tree with one point spent, that's 3,500 credits. If you choose to reset your rifle tree with seven points spent in it, that's 24,500 credits.
A full reset, if you choose to do it, will cost you 3,500 x 44 = 154,000 credits.
I have 5 on ambusher and 8 on stalker so am I maxed out ??
