buffalo aggression level
the cape buffalo and water buffalos are way too aggressive. True, they can be aggressive, but in this game it is too much. I was laying against the wind, 80m away and shot a cow. The surrounding three males attacked me and followed me for ages. Luckily this game doesn't simulate a heart attack after running for log times :)
Anyway, the aggression level seems to be very unrealistic. Buffalos can charge, and even follow for a short distance, but not for long. They have no 'hunting-instinct'.

I have got into the habit of only shooting them from a tripod. Can be a bonus kill if you carry a revolver or x-bow :)

The behaviour is fairly accurate, although excessive at times. Cape buffalo do have a very strong defensive behaviour pattern.

Please don't nerf another animal.

It is a game. I don't want to shoot enormous dosile animals.

Buffalo are very very easy to hit with a gun. They are also worth a shed load of cash. The way the game balances all that is by making them aggressive. IE if you don't hit it right, its going to attack you over and over.

And honestly, buffalo are so unbelievably easy to kill when they attack. You just side step them and shoot them. Wax and repeat. Here is a buffalo I shot with an air rifle.

And here is one I danced with and hit about 9 or 10 times with a shotgun.

^That's a lot of fun. Its tearing around you, you dodge and shoot and dodge some more.

I don't understand why people keep making threads saying "make the game easier". It is already ridiculously easy. The more perks and skill you get, the easier it becomes. Then you get more experience, better weapons unlocked with lvl, and yet threads saying nerf the animals.

No, make them worse. Make the buffalo faster, let them turn quicker, make them harder to kill, make bullets not penetrate as much ... keep me coming back for more because it isn't just a walk in the park.

If you can use Hawk Edge CB-70 bow with 600 GR arrows then carry it around in buffalo areas just for the chargers, it will stop charging buffalo dead in their tracks and is faster and more accurate to use then rifles at close range.

Just go back to pack man, and it won't heart you

Racial stereotype? It's South Africa, what was he supposed to sound/look like? :steamhappy:
It is GOOD that way! Much more fun than some lazy ass animals waiting very kindly to be shot...
Ironically, I was just about to write a review on Yukon, because it is very fun how extremely aggressive the wolves there are... Unrealistic, but fun. I prefer fun over extreme and boring realism.

"The surrounding three males attacked me and followed me for ages."

Lucky they didn't have guns to hunt you down. Next time try this: Spin 4 times clockwise and shout "You can't see me" with each turn. That always works for me, but if it doesn't, med kits do wonders, I never leave home without them.

I disagree!! It's much more fun and excitement when they are a bit agressive like now!! The same with the wolves I think. :-)

Study your prey and learn how to deal with them safely. I regularly kill between 10 to 15 cape Buffs per hunt without being attacked. Mostly Im shooting at less than 50m. its not broke and doesnt need fixing.
Otherwise, if you cant stand the heat, just stay out of the kitchen.

Please, do share a video of those 10+ buffalo kills at 50 meters, we'd love to share in your widsom.

Go onto youtube - there are a number of postings which demonstrate multiple buff kills. What Dan says is eminently plausible.

I typically use the Hawk Edge CB-70 bow with 600 GR arrows and have killed 4-5 buff at between 30-40 metres with no issue in quick succession - I don't typically continue after that as I'm chiefly targeting males. On one occasion I killed 10 water buffalo in succession with the 470, all under 50 metres: I intersected them on a route from a feeding ground to a resting area. Harvest one, they ran away, then proceeded back along the path. Rinse and repeat. Kept going just to see how long the behaviour would continue - an AI weakness of the game in this particular situation. Don't feel like exploiting it again, but have had multiple opportunities to do so.

I've generally only been attacked by either species when they are in an aggressive state: then their behaviour is somewhat psychotic, e.g they'll trample you and then if you spawn at a close outpost they'll either be there ready to enact more revenge, or will soon appear.

@Snake hit it right.

Buffalo are fine, like the tampon said -

Please do not nerf another animal

The aggression is a bonus, if you're not good enough to drop it dead in 1 shot, then it runs to you to harvest. I've had many drop dead within meters of me. Makes it nice i don't have to follow tracks to harvest.

Unless you really ♥♥♥♥ up your shot and get trampled or use an under-powered weapon bison/buffalo are fine how they are now.

People whined like this about the wolves and they're broken now, don't break the buffalo.

@McSquirt Nugget 100% agree.
