There are 12 ancient statues total, you find them by following other statues around the map that point where you want to go.
The tombs are listed under Javi's tab and when selected the map marker will move to an area. The tomb is hidden in the area, you've got to find it. Then find a big stone ball at the tomb and put it on a pedestal to unlock something.
Those are random missions that can spawn anywhere on the map. Sargento & Garland have some too. You still earn XP for completing them but they're just extra repeating missions.
