SCUM

Don't dwell on the 1.0 issues.
First of all, from 2018 until now, this game has gone through many versions, some with positive feedback and others with "reverse updates." Whether 1.0 is the official first release or not is not important at all because we've been playing it, right?

What I believe should change the most is to "improve communication channels," for example, having developers on duty in the forum who can continuously gather suggestions and feedback rather than blindly posting without any response.

We should also consider one thing: back in 2018, what attracted players to SCUM when it stood out among many survival games? Was it the graphics and gameplay? Or was it the guns and cars? I don't think it was any of those.

Among multiple survival games, SCUM received praise mainly for the following reasons:
●A realistic survival system: including the portrayal of bodily functions like heart rate, breathing, oxygen saturation, as well as various nutritional and more realistic eating systems.

●A realistic firearms system: while many games now claim to have "realistic bullets and ballistics," it was quite challenging to implement in small games from smaller game studios back then.

●Realistic cooking: You had to place meat near the fire and continuously observe and think until it was cooked instead of getting burned. The distance from the heat source and time determined whether you could have a meal (back then, it seemed like you couldn't eat raw meat directly, even though zombies could drop meat chunks).

●Realistic survival ecology: Whether hunting for meat and making it into food or the awkwardness of not having a large backpack to transport more items. Or pushing a small cart around.

Now look at SCUM:
●Ridiculous cooking: You don't need any cooking books, and you don't even need to cook. You can just find something to eat, even if it's raw meat, as long as you choose to "eat slowly and pay attention to your rejection progress," you can enjoy rotten expired food, raw meat, and more, especially if your constitution reaches '5,' then you can easily ignore these. Using the Matryoshka doll bug can also make food never spoil, even though there's a "refrigerator," but it's useless.

●Laughable cars: The introduction of modular cars might have been successful in terms of form, but it completely created a gap between players. Players without cars "cannot enjoy the game well," while players with cars have "low maintenance costs." Remember, in the past, a car repair kit could only repair a car once. But now, a car repair kit can repair a car 10 times, each time for 2 points (I'm talking about the chassis, that is, the health points). So, on my server, I have completely disabled this thing. Pushcarts cannot compensate for the gaming experience gap between the "car-owning group" and the naked players.

●Laughable survival system: Whether it's health concerns, disease concerns, or bodily function issues, they haven't developed well. Lacking various nutrients doesn't seem to affect the body. All you need to do is "focus on protein," nothing more.

●Laughable weather: If it's cold, just put on a raincoat. If it's hot, take off your socks, underwear, and helmet, and you can solve 90% of the temperature problems. You don't need to make a fire, hide indoors, or take a shower, swim, or "turn on the air conditioning" to cool down. Warm clothing is everywhere, and it's not surprising. You don't have to worry about freezing to death at night.
●Laughable ammunition: For most situatio
ns, I can solve the most powerful armored zombies with 2 headshots, whether I use .45 bullets or .308 bullets, so how is the power difference between various weapons supposed to be reflected? For veteran players, a bow + an iron sword can solve 90% of the problems.

●Grenades, landmines, and traps are just prepared for those "dark-hearted" players. Especially in PVE, they are completely useless.
What has the game development deviated from? Looking back, how much of the reasons that initially attracted players to the game still exist in the game now?
