Region Lock Is Necessary

I've been hearing a lot of complaints from people saying that most US servers are being ruined by players from other regions that use throw away accounts for cheating and griefing. I think region locking servers would be a good idea to help smooth out the experience. Let me know your thoughts

This doesn't do anything....like literally nothing. The same people simply reroll a new account and come back in less than a hour....over and over and over again. On top of that its not preventive. The hackers do all the damage before anything is done and there is no compensatory system for that. So prevention is the only thing that works.

I don't think region-locking is immediately racist, and I think the OP's description is careful and sensible so as not to hurt others.

There are several ways to bypass region-locked PC games. One of the easiest ways is to use a free “High Anonymous” proxy server that doesn’t identify itself as a proxy when connecting to websites. If you’re considering the use of VPNs, make sure you’re not jeopardizing your access to your games and accounts.

They have to get caught then banned----hard to catch them!

They use throw away steam accounts and games to get around it already.
It is a never ending fight already even to try to region lock even though many games try by perma banning caught accounts that bypass!

It is merely a deliberate and malicious misreading by a third party.

OP wants region lock. There are many different ethnic groups in the region, but he does not exclude them.
He rejects all players outside the region. He does not exclude only certain races outside the region.
Based on the above, we cannot say that he discriminates against a particular race.

Yes US West gets hit a lot harder than US East for example!

But that still does not explain how it would help when getting around region locks is just as easy if not easier than than the hack-cheat itself!

I think we might be conflating or making overly literal this term.
ANYTHING that reduces traffic from a different part of the world would be considered qualified as a region lock. It doesn't have to literally be locking out a region. It can easily be a ping lock which is easy to do and was VERY effective previously. For god only knows what reason they've either changed the level at which you get locked out OR server performance has improved to the degree that the previously set limit is no longer sufficient and needs, therefore to be lowered.

Call that a region lock or call it a ♥♥♥♥ lock ...i don't care...just get the folks from the region that does all the cheating off the servers....whatever it takes.

I have advocated many times for a region lock and it has been explained to me that would be difficult to code for? This could be blowing smoke but i don't know enough about coding to really doubt it.

At one point someone in my squad had a conversation with a dev about possibly making low ping cap servers on the west coast to hinder loggin in from overseas but the cap would have to be quite low. I spoke with a couple players from china and they reported pings under 200. One even said he was getting a ping in the 80s. So even a ping lock would be a hard thing to gain from in terms of limiting anything.

It has not been done yet has it I guess they don't see it as a problem---or maybe it is AS YOU WERE TOLD TOO DIFFICULT!

Many PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds players blame the game’s cheating problem on China. They’re not wrong, says the popular battle royale game’s creator Brendan Greene. But there’s more to it than that.

“Battleye have already tweeted out that I think around 99 percent of cheats in the game right now are coming out of China,” Greene told Kotaku by phone. Wrote yesterday in this support. No words... I complained about the strange capture of the flag that was built up. I also attached a screenshot with racist words in the chat...
Do you know the outcome? I got banned for a week in the game. :) To me!!! For what?

I don't think it is necessary or would even help. It only takes a few button clicks to change Steam's settings to use a connection point in a useable region.
