It is a good idea getting tire or running around the map with clothes fulls of weight and carrying a backpack full of weight
If some kind of equipment such as weights were put in a proper physical recovery cycle would have to be implemented as well, i.e. after heavy work outs you need some kind of actual down time or something along those lines. Or perhaps a risk of joint injury if you over exert yourself.
This was partially resolved by if you have no forward momentum you loose con so walking into walls or crawling into walls will drop your con!
Keep in mind you still have to eat and drink while walking into walls if you go 0 protein you will loose muscle mass and actually weaken your character!
You could only afk for a short time before running out of water/food. If anything I'am sure they could implement some type of time limit where you would get kicked off the machine. Better yet, make you pay for using it. You put in some $$$ and the machine will only work for a certain amount of time :-).
The problem is solved now by not giving str or con without forward momentum. So why create a condition that allows for it again? That was my point.
As for calories, it's quite simple. You put a gas can full of water in your hiker (for the weight) and set up a basic macro to drink after x minutes. Prior to starting you eat sausage skewers until you can't. Both issues solved for literally hours. These exploits were already fixed i see no reason to return to a world where people play the game while not actually playing the game.
I got my con up to 4.6 and now it's falling back to 4.4 because I've been having to drive further from the base to loot because so many new players have been over looting around me. Last night I started running to the trader just taking a little at a time to see if I could build my con back up. I found out that I can either run to the trader and back dealing with puppets or run around my base approx 100 times for the same gain. It's definitely a lot easier to run around the base. I only need to do it 1700 times to get back to where I was.
I don't have the time to run from the airport in B2 to the Naval yard and especially carry a metal chest to bring my loot back. I tried running from one end of the airport runway to the other end and back. Found out that can be too expensive. I burned through over a box and a half of AK ammo. Especially when I do a bunch of drops. No way I can run to them in time. BTW I already have advanced + driving.
I'm not saying that is how you or anyone else should be playing the game but i can tell you my con and dex are maxed always and my strength is on a steady climb upwards.
All of that is to say that there are trade offs when you decide how you want to play the game. In your case you are trading a life of convenience and abundance at the cost of your physical stats. In my case its the reverse. This is a very realistic trade off and makes a lot of sense in the context of a survival game.
If a mechanism is put in the game that removes this trade off then a key part of the trade off equation is thrown out of balance. I have no issue with some kind of work out equipment is in the game that helps train up stats as long as it is somehow tied to the metabolism and has a built in recovery time with some sort of limitation...just as it would in RL. By no means should it be possible to do while AFK.
The way you play Scum is the way I played The Long Dark. I do play Scum differently. I prefer to build larger bases and have a variety of pretty much everything. I started with 3 1 3 5. I've leveled up to 3.7 3.6. 5 5. I have dropped con to 3.4 recently though. I've been starting to exercise more to raise it back up. It's raising it's just going to take a while. Before the update every time I played I'd devote quite a bit of time to regain the stats I lost while driving around. I've kind of slacked off.
I'm not the first person that has asked for exercise equipment. I'm basically repeating what I've been hearing from others for a while now. I do agree that user intervention would be needed when using the equipment. I just think it'd be better than running all over the map wasting ammo just to level up con or str.
Agree 100%
Also looks like you and me have basically the same play style. Cars will get you killed real quick. They can be heard from far away!
For players like you I completely understand. I play on a PVE server so I don't have to worry about getting sniped anywhere. The mechs are also disabled but, the puppets have been increased quite a bit. I saw someone that looked like they was having a little trouble with puppets earlier. I helped them a little. They didn't need a lot. That's the game I'd rather play than worrying that everyone you see and everyone you don't see is about to take you out at any time or take everything you have when you're not even around to protect it.
If it's going to be difficult to skill the character then let's go play dayz. Not everyone has the time to devote to skilling the character.
( I think this is just your problem. ) We loved upgrading the character's abilities the most in this game, but they took that away from us!
Making pvp games is always more open to development than making pve games. We're not playing a farming simulator here.
