New Vehicle Claiming & Ownership Mechanics
Hi one for the dev's, Iv had a think about vehicle ownership and hording n stuff and how to make the whole vehicle thing a lot more fairer and accessible for everyone. putting a cap on how many vehicles a person can own and if the join a squad just limit how many vehicles a squad can have as a collective is an option for private admin.

so iv came up with this which works on some existing game mechanics and would require some newer ones. maybe yous can take something from it have a read through and see what yous think and if you have any question or see something I missed or aint covered I'll see if I have an answer for that too 😁

New Car game Mechanics

just to present it in the form of some system I'll refer to unclaimed or owned vehicle's as "TTV's" (Temporary Transport Vehicle') and Player Owned Vehicles.

Vehicle Ownership

1stly id treat vehicles as "TTV's" and introduce a "claim a car or ownership" game mechanic that would be a base foundation for what I'm thinking next.

Simply walk up to a car click on it, and open the menu (with fill fuel, charge battery, options etc) and have a "Claim Car" or "Claim Ownership" option at the top of that menu. "Claim Car" (yes I want to take ownership of this vehicle) or "No" but still want to use it temporary, so it would then be classed as a "TTV (Temporary Transport Vehicle) to get you from A to B as it has no ownership and would be subject to TTV Despawn game mechanics cos it's an unclaimed car.

once the engine has been started and the "Unowned or Unclaimed" TTV's car has moved off in the world it would have the despawn half life of a few days instead of a week (one day or even a few hours) before they despawn and respawn somewhere else in the world. that is unless a person has "claimed ownership" of the car via the car menu options described above before the givin TTV timer runs out, in which case once a car is claimed it would then be subject to normal car despawn rules of like the current 10 to 11 days before they despawn.

if the person didn't claim the car and became car owner it would simply despawn in the set time limit it's set to despawn in and any contents will be lost too.

Car Desapwning Cont

instead of being able to just login sit in a car start it up move it forward or back a couple of feet then jumping to reset the despawn timers again the devs could change that so you have to drive 1 mile. for example in order to reset the despawn timer which could notify the player by a little red light which says red until you drive past the 1 mile distance at which point it could ping a noise and go green indicating you have reset the 10 day despawn timer and can go do the same with any other vehicle you have.

Vehicle Hording

the devs could put a blocker on TTV's so that it stops current car owners being able to enter their base flag area vicinity with a TTV's cos they already "too many cars" whether it be x2 SUV's x2 Pickups or x1 SUV and x1 Pickup for example devs could decide on how many vehicle a person or gang can own etc or server admin.

the Devs could even make it self destruct (as it dose when you go in water with a car) so if it is drivin in the basers flag area vicinity and you get the warning it must be drivin back out the flag area before it blows up.

if that is to harsh for folk, then a game mechanic that means a car would simply not drive past your flag area perimeter and not be hordable in a base, again they could stash it near by but also give "Unowned or Unclaimed" "TTV's a despawn half life of a few days instead of a week or even one day or a few hours before they despawn and respawn somewhere else in the world.

you would still be able to to drive TTV's as normal etc stash them away in the open somewhere try horde them but again the half life despawn would mean your gonna have to log in every 3 days or sooner or lose it the whole point being you don't keep these vehicle long term when you already own some.

Stealing Cars

as for stealing cars from other players? what would happen is you walk up to the car simply click the car and remove "Ownership" jump in and drive off which at this point the vehicle is unclaimed stats again and will be subject to "TTV game mechanics and will despawn in a few days or hours (dependent on the despawn timer settings) if you do not claim ownership.

stealing a car would work the same claiming ownership simply click on the car before you jump in and remove ownership at which point you have two options claim it and drive off or just drive off with it unclaimed till you jump out and claim ownership of it which all happens just as easy as clicking option to fill it with fuel etc.

Thanks' for checking this out :steamhappy:

Here we go again :D
no, no, im quiet.
ps: dude, im on your side, but devs already said that existing system is maximum fair and right so we dont need to change something. Wild west.

Hmm you're mostly talking about temporary vehicles.
Is there a cap for owned cars?

This idea again?
I mean i guess it's been a year or so since you posted it last.

Very nice post, I agree with your ideas. Vehicle hoarding is a huge problem and needs some change of mechanics for this game being sustainably fun in the long run, because having to run large distances over and over again is demotivating af if you have to do it constantly.

people WILL ALWAYS HOARD CARS, thats a fact, learn to NOT rely on them so much
if you didnt rely on a car so much this topic wouldnt be posted EVERY other freaking day it seems
ethier get lucky and find one or raid someone whos got them or blow them up when you see one, pathetic people trying to CONTROL how others play

As more vehicle's are introduced and their numbers continue to increase with optimization it will be less and less of an issue.

If a 6 member squad has 6 or 7 vehicles... is this hording? Nope. If a two man squad has 2 is that hording? Nope. This is generally what I see, not much actual hording because its not useful to horde and they are expensive to protect.

Someone hording 6 cars has to lock them all, and fence them in somewhere for them to remain safe. 6 cars with enough room to exit/enter them is a huge base build with even only a single wall. That is a huge commitment in resources. IMO if they are willing to do it then they should be able too.

In fact I feel like next wipe I might do this and just become a used car salesman in game.

leave it in the hands of server admins. At some point the game evolves from survival to luxury lifestyle simulation at which time it also becomes rather boring without like minded players to chat with

Hi that cos vehicle's for the most part would be TTV's temporary vehicles would be just that till you take ownership. think of it like calming a base area with flag you can build a base but its temporary till you drop a flag n claim it then you become the owner of that base or like a house every house you enter you don't own your visiting it temporary and have an option to claim it anytime before you leave why can't vehicles work on the same principle? it's already there in many forums and works fine on other game aspects. claiming is a current and acceptable game mechanic, car ownership capping is down to the devs or private server admin so no solid figure can't be presented and servers vary so much so one setting cap aint gonna fit all different servers would have different numbers of vehicles available etc

personally id cap vehicle to two cars to one or two SUVS or Picks or one of each for solo players 1 quad 1 motor bike a solo player certainly dose not need any more than that and it's not likely they every solo player will have that many vehicle's or even want that many same with gangs.

Id also limit gangs to 8-12 players per gang again this means two pickups is enough to accommodate that gang of 12 people with wheels and if they have an extra car or two bring their car numbers to 4 for example then that's okay 2 for regular use two as back up's then they might have motorbikes and quads

so again 4 big cars suv's & pickups couple of quads and a few bikes is certain more than enough and should be capped about there.

just cos people ln a squad up they should not have a free ticket just to dominate everyone below them on every level vehicle ownership should be subject to a nerf.

as always I fully support most stuff in terms of settings being implemented as a server settings so admin can set server according to their player bases likes and wished and also give players a variety of options as not everyone want to play vanilla.

from a business POV it's always best to be as inclusive as you can and accommodate as many customers as you can.

It's obvious not fair and not working a it's been discussed so many time for a few year now.

eh Sorry to tell you but the current situation is exactly "Wild West" so idk trying to say.

I'm certainly Not saying I know best but Devs don't always know what's best otherwise they would not ask for listen to or read players suggestion's and feedback which is why we are all here and why we even spend typing typing.
