Revolvers I can see fitting a niche (mid- to high power, low ammo count and slow reload). I'm thinking an improvised .357 revolver or a Python-esque thing. Or both. Also I'd see the lever-action shotgun scrapped and a Winchester style rifle, chambered for 30.06 thus sharing ammunition with the M1, introduced instead. To satisfy shotgun afficionados, a replacement could be the ol' trusty double barrel for the short term.
