Wolves and bears being predators have remained in the game at what I believe is slightly lower numbers than in the past. I think even a dev acknowledged this.
The rest of the animals now follow 2 systems.
1. When you hear an animal sound you can start going in that direction and follow the sound, hold down your right mouse button to enter focus mode and when close you'll see some floating foot prints. Find the sticks/rubble on the ground and search it and it gives a direction to follow. This is the hunt. You might have to do this again a few times and then the animal will spawn and you can then shoot it.
2. The same encounter spawner that spawns the puppets can now spawn an animal also.
I have had a goat spawn on the edge of a town and try to butt me and I have had 3 rabbits spawn at the same time west of the B1 gas station in the grassy field area.
Chickens I have seen every where.
I haven't killed anything except a bear that tried to eat me cause I know that cooking is bugged at the moment.
We will investigate the situation you have encountered with a wolf.
