re log sometimes its a visual thing
I have relogged multiple times and couldn't see it.
If you are playing single player a relog guaranties a corpse will despawn!

Check the area your corpse might be in the near vicinity within 50 meters.

If you are in multiplayer then a relog can help or sometims another player can see it.

I couldn't find it anywhere.
I have died multiple times in many places and I couldn't find my body.
It is very frustrating to lose all the items.
Don't bother relogging this is a BUG - currently in single player on death your corpse ALWAYS despawns immediately after death except for slot 1 2 and anything that was in your hands. ignore the troll comments that say anything about relogging (unless you're playing on a server) and spread the word.

We must keep this topic alive because as a SP player, it is very frustrating dying and losing everything...
I think I may have had the same issue with the body disappearing. I ran into a mine that someone had planted in a group of bushes where they had also hid their tiny shed of a basebuilding and I just saw it for second in the bush before heard the explosion and it went black. I paid the 1000 cash to respawn in sector and ran to the bush in 10 IRL minutes, and I knew it was the right one because of the base building. Now, it is possible that the player in question could have been there, took my stuff, chopped up my body and carried the body parts away in those 5 minutes before I returned, but there was nothing when I cam back there.

To avoid any kind of uncertainty going forward I think it would be nice if you could get some kind of notification when your body was removed by the game due to despawn time OR if your body was despawned because someone chopped it up you would still receive a notification that the body was despawned due to being chopped up (but as to not reveal info in pvp about what another player is doing this notification would not appear at the time the body was chopped but instead would appear later when the normal body despawn timer would have run out (so after 20 min)). If you logged out before body despawned this notification should be displayed next time you login again after the body has despawned.

In this way if you do not receive a notification within 20 minutes you know for certain that a bug happened relating to your corpse and can report it appropriately to the devs.

Edit: putting this comment into a new thread in Suggestions.

I think that your suggestion is good, but it doesn't looks like it would fit properly in Scum's game type, because a timer like, the one already we have in the cargo drops, wouldn't looks cool in the screen showing that you have only X minutes left before your body disappears.
To be honest, I have never been bothered by that.
The thing is that, lately, the body is disappearing before we grab our loot back.
I have teleported to the place I died immediately and it wasn't there anymore.

I would suggest differently. I would suggest that we could see a blood pool or marks in the place you died, so it would be much more immersive and realistic, instead of despawning a corpse. And, if someone finds your body and chop it, you would notice the blood marks in the ground and you would know that you died there.
I mean, the blood marks could extend to a bigger radius showing that body parts had been chopped, etc.

Good idea for immersive reasons for sure, I like it. But I was also thinking on one hand about helping the devs identify when this is a bug; The system I proposed would 100% mean it's a bug if you receive the notification either early or if you don't receive soon after the 20 min mark. And on the other hand I am thinking about helping the player avoid a bad experience in case it bugging out, for example: how would you necessarily know if the body had despawned prematurely through a bug? So if you paid to respawn in the sector to get back to the body in time and maybe even dying again if it was dangerous to go back, but all to no avail if the game had already despawned the body prematurely.

Your suggestion is good too, but in my opinion, it would make more sense in a development perspective, I mean, it would be better for the devs to find bugs.
I think they could implement this feature as a bug finder but in a hidden manner, in a way we players can't see the timers. At least for now.
Our bodies are not supposed be disappearing until 20 minutes has elapsed. They should be there until that time has passed this is how it has been.

There was a bug that your body could be close with in maybe 50 meters of where you died and a little searching around would find it.

There were times that IF playing MULTIPLAYER when you found your weapons you had in slots 1 and or 2 you could log out and back in and find your corpse---this does not work for single player...

With this update many players from the posts here and on their official discord seem not to leave corpses in single player EVER! It is a new bug....

CONFIRMED!

I created a single player!

I teleported to just west of b2 town I gave myself a spear and a bow.

I went into town and got the puppets mad.

I left town to just where the signs are west of town.

I let them kill me.

I teleported just west of where I died.

Found my bow and spear right where I died....

NO CORPSE ANY WHERE!

Yes, there is a thread in bug reports. It seems its only single player maybe. I need to see a specific item on hotfix to really get back to the game.

It is pissing us off in the way it is now.
It's very annoying, but think of it this way. Scum wants to be real life. In real life, when you die, you need to wander as a ghost to find your body again. In the state of being a ghost, you can get confused where your body might be. Maybe your family buried you, maybe they cremated you or donated you to science.

When you do not find your body again in Scum, your in game family probably already said goodbye to you.

DON'T DIE!

Mafia Out.

It's a bug, a nasty one. In single player corpse just does not spawn on death. We're working on it. Thank you.
