SCUM
Fatal error: [File:Unknown] [Line: 1209] GameThread timed out waiting for RenderThread after 60.00 secs
I play SCUM every day. Today after a quick update the game will not get past the splash screen without crashing with the following error:

I have verified the files through Steam and there are no errors. I have checked my connecton to the EAC servers and it is good - which doesn't matter because I can only play in Single Player because I am a Linux user.

Here are may Computer Specs:
OS: Linux Kubuntu 24.04.02 LTS
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
GPU: AMD RX 7600
16 GB of RAM
2 TB NVMe with plenty of room
Wayland Window Manager

The last time it worked was about 12 hours ago.
The last things that changed in order:
Steam installed an update before launching.
SCUM would not get past the splash screen

Also, I did the following but I'm not certain it was after SCUM stopped working, It might have been in conjunction. I was focused on getting OBS Studio working because I wanted to record a video. Below are what I did. I don't want to rule it out but I doubt my OBS Studio issue is related.

I uninstalled OBS Studio (installed from the default repos)
I reinstalled OBS Studio (Flatpak)
I reconfigured OBS Studio

Notes that might help:
I tried playing ARK Survival Evolved by launching it from my Steam - fine.
I verified my steam files - all fine
I checked my connection to EAC servers - fine
I searched the internet for similar reports and I could find none
I upload my OBS videos to the YouTube channel The Wrong Key Cowboy if you want to see how the game was running before.

Both my children have similar spec computers as mine. I had them each try to load and play scum and both of them were successful. I'm wondering if I uninstall and reinstall maybe that would solve the problem. I'm afraid to do that because I don't know if that will obliterate the characters I have spent so much time developing.

I believe I have solved my problem which I think was caused when I installed the AMD Proprietary drivers in order to make OBS Studio work a little better. After uninstalling the AMD drivers and reverting to the Kubuntu default drivers I was able to run the game. Here is how I found this:

Backed up the pfx folder
Uninstalled SCUM in Steam
Reinstalles SCUM in Steam
Started the game, had the same problem
Uninstalled the proprietary drivers
Restored my original pfx folder
Started the game, and my characters are available, I loaded one of them and the base and other assets are still there.

I will continue down this road and if I find no further troubles I will not revisit this thread. If I find something else in the next few days I will report back here to keep this thread updated with the latest information.

Thank you for your attention.
