Takes a long time to update

Every update or fix, the game takes a very long time to update, although it is installed on an SSD. Internet speed is 1GB, it downloads very quickly, but after downloading it takes a long time to make changes and install (can happen several times). It’s faster for me to delete the game and download it again than to update by 20 megabytes. What could be causing this? Integrity check doesn't solve anything. There are no such problems with other games

Hi OP! Various things can cause a slow update for example, a faulty SSD or processor can cause your updates to be slow. A full drive can also be the cause of a slow update.

In order to Lessen download file size the data is compressed and once it's done downloading it has to decompress the data and install it. The downloading process depends on your internet speed (which I believe is not your issue here) but the decompression part depends on your hardware.

I also thought about an SSD, so I bought a new one and installed the game on it, but nothing changed. A small update can take 2 hours to install. Could this be caused by the fact that Steam itself is located on one SSD drive, and the game is on another?

Something does not seem right if it's taking that long to unpack.

I have a I 8700 and had only 16ram and it never took even 10 minutes.

I still have the I 8700 but I upped to 32 ram and I have no complaints.
My steam is on an old sata 500 ssd and my Scum is now on a Samsung 980ssd
It goes pretty quick.

Is your Windows installation on one of your SSD's, or is it on a (spinning) hard drive?

Are you running any other games or programs while SCUM is updating?

Have you noticed a delay when Windows Explorer opens a folder before the files appear, or before you can interact with them? If so, do you have a ton of files / folders with lots of files in them on your desktop?

Is it possible that OneDrive could be configured in an odd way and is saving / backing up the SCUM program files to the cloud?

My system:
Intel Core i5-11400F, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 12GB,
32 GB RAM, Windows 10 (located on M2), 2560x1440 165 Hz, game on SSD.
During the game I launch discord, but even when there is nothing in the background, it has no effect.
There are folders and files on the desktop, but there are no delays, everything opens very quickly. I'm not sure what I know about OneDrive and its connection with SCUM. There was no such problem before, it appeared after about 0.95

I'm running a much weaker system than most here (I7-3770, 16 GB ram, Nvidia GTX 970) with Steam installed on one Samsung 840 SATA SD and the game on another Samsung 870 SATA SSD.

My updates don't take very long (5-15 minutes), so just having it on a different drive shouldn't make any difference. Next time the game updates you might open Task manager and hit the 'performance' tab and see what's happening. It might give a clue if it's showing heavy disk utilization or if it's CPU or memory.

People with many different types of systems have reported this, but as Krannog pointed out, it can have a number of different causes. Finding yours may take some sleuthing. Other games have this issue on Steam. Here's just a couple:

Out of curiosity, what's the drive the game is installed on? You said you bought it for the game specifically. I'm assuming it has a lot of free space, or am I wrong?
