Yes the lock picking in this game is that easy.
That is why they added the dial lock which takes approx 12 minutes to get past all the possible numbers if you did not get lucky earlier.
The BCU lock which if it does not have power won't work anyhow.
In most cases if you have a good protected base then they'll just blow the wall out next to it. Also easy to get the explosives to do that.
That's why they added raid timers now.
Put up a stick wall in front of your door/gate. It won't stop them but if they have no explosives atm they wont get through as easy.
Making it harder than it is now would do nothing for the guys that raided your base because it would take him 2-3 bobby pins instead of one, however if you raid an abandoned bunker and aren't one of the guys that can lockpick like that, then the end-room loot is unreachable since it is locked behind golden locks.
Te reliable but annoying method is to bury stuff far away from your base and keep only useless items in base.
dont make a base period because its pointless if you have to store items outside of a base

" because there are players that rebind their keys for the pressure attempt to their mouse buttons which allows them to press quicker."
I'm not a fan of lockpicking, so this was good advice.
This is why the population count in SCUM had dropped almost 30% since early December.
Region lock would be a huge help, private servers can do it, it needs to be done with official.
The admins are not Devs, and they are working with the current admin toolset and anti-cheat systems.
The Devs have been very clear on this matter and I would think they represent the ultimate source of what is going on behind the scenes. I have no doubt that they have been working on improving internal systems and what may/will be added to the admin toolset in the future.
There has been a 23.2% drop in players between December and over the last 30 days.

There are 16,510 currently playing as I write this reply. You have to look at averages over similar periods, not just the high and/or low for a day.
If you look at history, the number of players (on average) tends to rise and fall around updates - but there is an overall positive trend since 2018. Given that it has been a while since the last update (requiring a "soft wipe"), it is not surprising that the numbers are where they are. Moreover, if you read the forum posts regularly you may sense that a number of players are pausing and waiting for the 1.0 release (or an update encompassing significant movement toward it). Given the somewhat unclear impact of the 1.0 release on attributes and skills (as well as the Encounter Manager, bugfixing and many other things), I think this should be expected.
I agree that region locking (in some form) would help. I am not sure where you obtained information about private servers having this ability; I believe it is currently accomplished by setting a ping maximum. This is not a particularly effective system as there are a number of ways to defeat it. CrankyOldMan knows far more about this sort of thing than I do.
I suggest patience. The Devs have stated they are working on it and no one can make absolute statements about what will be done or how effective it will be until the new systems are introduced into the game.
