Materials, stability, build height
I thought they were linked, that with better materials you would be able to build higher e.g. stack more walls on top of each other. That doesn't seem to be the case?

I tried to build a tower and the stick walls I stacked give the "weak stability" warning that doesn't allow you to build more at the exact same height as supported cement walls. (Which was quite disappointing.)

Is there a fixed build height? If so, is here a server setting that could adjust it?

Yes there is a fixed build height and it is not a server setting.

Stability can be increased by using supports but that will not increase the maximum height limit.
We can't build the Tower of Babel, but we could build an eight-story tower.

I had a feeling you would know. Thank you, for now and for being super helpful around here in general!

It's disappointing for my tower project. I'm sure it would have looked amazing and may now look a bit ... goofy. But it's not entirely unexpected. I'm glad that I know for certain now.

That's the plan now! As soon as the roof merging works properly again.

There was some issues with exploits in making bases too high.

One was, there was a way of making them float and the only way of access was to build a tower underneath.
The base was out of reach for explosives and lock picking.

Also I once built a stairway all the way up and created a base on top of the wall.
So they wanted to stop that exploit also.

I built it on my server to confirm that other reports were valid and sent the pics to the devs.

I was thinking performance issues, but I can definitely see exploit being an issue for PVP.

However, in that case a server setting might help regulate it too. I just doubt there are that many creative builders for SCUM that the effort would be worth it.

Large bases do cause server issues which is why the officials have a 100 element base cap.

I have seen players fps drop and they get disconnected from the server near those large bases.
This usually happens on lower end computers.

Base building exploits are still being found and they are getting reported. I just saw one for the second time using the same method on their official discord.

Fairness aside, I do admire the craftiness and creativity of some exploits some come up with in games.
It can be made higher by using the building's framework.

In single player mode, it is possible to build an 8-story building, but I don't know if it is possible in multi-server mode.

I can't speak for others, but on ours 8 sounds about right. The walls stand fine on their own, but for floors and roof tiles support is needed.

yes.

In my opinion,
If we have more than 100 building elements, the droneships will attack us, the droneships will be angry like gods and our tower will collapse.

In order to have 8 floors within 99 building elements, we must have 2 floor elements.
We need 10 elements for the first floor.
10✕8 floors + 8 ladders + 1 rooftop hatch = 89
89ー14=75
Wells and workbenches will have to be built outside the building.

The chest must be crafted outside the base area. If crafted inside the base area, it will count as a building element.

On the rooftop, a green wall blueprint should be put up.
Like a lighthouse, the location of the base can be seen from a distance.

And the view from the rooftop is spectacular.
I am looking forward to the first sunrise on SCUM Island.

I have turned the dropships off on our server. All of us just aren't fans of automated base raids in general at all. Personal preferance. I can see how others enjoy it, it's just not for me.

I'm building my towers on top of the mountain near the C2 safe-zone and the view is just breathtaking.
