SCUM
Items despawn in server
Is there a server setting to prevent items from despawning or disappearing? Do I need to place a flag or something? I placed a flag and left some items outside of boxes because I had to go loot materials to craft them, and when I came back to the cabin I had occupied, my stuff was gone. Is there a way to prevent this? Also, when I create storage boxes, they show a 14day timer before they disappear. Is there any way to change this in the server settings?

No, you can't disable item disappearance. You have to secure items in a chest to prevent them from disappearing.

Exceptions are: refrigerators, generators, gas cylinders, grills, pans and pots, and battery chargers.

As for the server settings, I don't know off the top of my head, but you can change the decay timer within the server settings. Not Entirely sure about the chests themself though.

hmmmm okay thank you xd
Hi Sansy,

I do not recommend changing the settings below if you are an admin for a larger-population private server (or one open to the general public) because doing so will result in a lot of materials (base elements and containers) scattered around the map and remaining for a long time after players leave and do not return. This can have impact on server performance over time. It would probably be ok on a smaller server (password protected or whitelisted) that is limited to a few friends, etc.

You can set your chests to 100 days in bases and trader zones by changing the settings below:

scum.MaintainItemsExpirationTime=2400:00:00
This is the maximum setting (100 days, the above is in hours:minutes:seconds).

scum.MaximumTimeForChestsInForbiddenZones=2400:00:00
This is the maximum setting (100 days, the above is in hours:minutes:seconds).

This will also slow the decay of base elements. Again, use caution on open multiplayer servers.

the server is for me and my friend xd, maybe in the future 4, but for now just 2 xd
Those settings should be fine Sansy. Enjoy :happylara:

You can simply take something out of a chest in the trader zone and then place it back inside the chest to reset the timer (or add something new). This is definitely not something you want to allow in a large public server or you will have hundreds of chests in the zone but it should be fine for you and your cadre.
